R I P David,

Condolences to his family and friends.

He was a real nice guy and used to come down to the old Fat Cats Billiards (West Village)
with his lady and play in the corner table around behind the desk. I think that was right before
he opened up Amsterdam Billiards uptown on Amsterdam Ave. (the old Beacon Lanes upstairs)

He will be missed.

Sad

Sad to hear about his passing,I always liked him and when I found out about his passion for Pool I really liked him. My wife and I were just watching reruns of Modern Family and he was in one of the episodes, and I told my wife he is a Pool player.Very sad.

If my math is right, Dave would have been about 78.

Brenner helped revive pool in the Big Apple, creating New York pool chic at a time when pool had nearly disappeared from Manhattan. He was one of the founders of the infamous Amsterdam Billiards.

David Brenner, a standup commedian, and Loree Jon Jones on this cute video clip. Loree Jon Jones is gorgeous, and David is funny: INSPORTS with Brenner and Jones.

Brenner was a very popular comedian in the '80s, but he left the limelight in the '80s after a bitter divorce. Court battles ensued for 3 years as his wife tried to block him from seeing his son, Cole. David decided to fight back and eventually won custody. Family was more important than fame and running around the countryside to David Brenner. I respect that a lot.

Broadway will go dark on the day Dave reaches those celestial shores. RIP to Dave Brenner.

RIP Dave

David Brenner was a "Philly boy". Broke my heart to hear he passed other day. He made me smile many-a-time with that off the wall humor of his. He would even beat himself up on (his) nose jokes. (How can ya not like a guy like that ??)

RIP Philly boy.

My condolences to his loved ones. I remember him being an immensely likable comedian in the 80s. He was also an ideal ambassador for pool.

RIP, David.

Funny guy, I didn't realize he was involved in pool and I'm surprised he was 78 years old.

Condolences to family and friends.

Rest in peace, Mr David Brenner.

David was a guest at our club in the 90s.....
....he must have played a game of 9-ball with at least 50 people.
It was one of our most enjoyable nights.....

...well, other than the fact that I had to dress up and pick him up in a limo.:embarrassed2:

Family statement...."In David's final request he asked that $100 in small
bills be placed in his left sock.....
..."just in case tipping is recommended where I'm going."

He did at one time definitely- I think before that he owned WEST Side Billiards?-something on 10th ave/50's or close which was pretty divey and didnt last too long. So he was a pool guy for sure.

Location. Location. Location.

I lived two blocks from West Side Billiards and I only went there twice. Both times the place was full but not many good players. They had beautiful drop pocket tables and lots of rugs and antiques in the place. But it was too far from the subway for folks to go there. The area wasn't as dangerous as it was 10 years before the place opened, but it was barren.
