I haven't listened to the podcast. I have listened to people I know and have trusted for years in the game who have spent time around French. To a man they all say the same thing. That he is a habitual liar who likes attention.
I have known Dennis since 2007. Not buddy buddy but had dinners with him and worked with him on a few matches. My experience with him on TAR matches was he did everything he said he would with no hassle at all. I'm not saying the guy is a saint and perfect because he has pulled some moves on the table here and there over the years I don't agree with but in the business deals I have done with him it was all legit and smooth. So much of the whole deal with him and French just makes no sense to anyone who knows all the ins and outs.
When multiple people with cumulative centuries of years experience in the game and industry all say the same thing about French its pretty telling in my opinion. Its very rare that everyone I talk to has the same general opinion on anything. In this case its unanimous. If people want to believe what a guy says who has proven he will make shit up at the drop of a hat...more power to them.
Personally I will never take anything serious that comes out of French's mouth.

Upstate Al deleted all the posts - both promoting the match and details of the cancelation, no it's on again, no it's canceled again - from his Facebook page. He's under the theory of lets just close our eyes and hope it goes away and everyone forgets.
They may have first hand knowledge, you and I may have second hand knowledge. :smile:
I believe Upstate Al gets a fee and some of the PPV. Not sure what Manny gets for them using his room.
All I know is that these two guys have done a lot of good things for pool prior to this debacle (Al: Turning Stone, numerous FREE streams - Manny: Many pro and Amateur events with decent added money) and I would hate for people to start questioning their integrity or forget all the good they have done because they happened to get into a business deal with John French.

The smoking gun and incriminating thing is the contract with Dennis which French posted few days ago.

I do not know any of the people, I do not know any of the history, and I do not have any dog in this hunt. But what I DO know is that the document that was posted (now taken down, apparently) does not look like anything intended to define the contractual relationship between the parties in any legally enforceable way. I do not believe it was drawn up by an attorney. I do not believe it is remotely enforceable. I do not believe a document like that has any purpose other than to deceive and try to intimidate someone into thinking they are obligated to do something.
I think that the person who likened this to trying to find virtue in a whorehouse was very unfair.

Oh and Manny's posts on Facebook were as if they just had the pope, mother Theresa, and Bill Gates all rolled up into one join their team. It was so over the top, it was ridiculous.

I think we have heard for from all the stakeholders and can settle on the fact that Mr. French is the core problem. Now the only missing part is from Manny and UpstateAl.

Both Al and Manny had to know well prior to the match. John French is taking all the heat (He deserves his share although it appears he had very little to do with the DO vs Ko match) and AL and Manny ain't saying diddly!
IMHO Al and Manny have severely tarnished their reputations and I doubt I will buy any PPV they are associated with unless they come forward and tell their side of the story rather than burying their head in the sand waiting for the debacle to go away.

Holy Witch Hunt Batman! I think Jerry and Mike don't need to have any concern with this whole debacle.
As for Al, he just streams matches, and is not a pool promoter. He should, possibly, take a little responsibility for the lack of transparency on the details of the DO/Ko match. But, overall, he is one of the good guys. JMHO.

Upstate is definitely a good guy. I guess he didn't want to make a huge uproar over the money in the middle issue. I dont see the point of trying to crucify him like some of the people in this thread. It wasnt like they had intended to mislead anyone. It's just that Ko's team came up short on the money. Not that I'm faulting Ko. Shit happens...
I've watched plenty of his FREE streams on the weekends. Its high quality and he dedicates endless hours for pennies to provide the streams.
Now for the Dennis/Shane match. French had full intentions of misleading everyone from the get-go..
