Is Schmidt's and charlie 626 Legit

If a ball hit the center of the pocket then the pocket spat it out, that's a bad pocket and a bad design, this is solely my opinion and how I feel about this, no matter how hard you hit it.
Fine, but such a rejected ball does not count according to the rules.

Diamonds are capable of doing this. But you loose your turn.

I can't disagree with either of you, I will lose my turn.

But as I said, it is just my opinion, I'll even point this out to my opponent as a bad designed pockets as I have hit the center of the pocket. Then ill sit in my chair quietly.

I don't feel the need to address every single point in every single thread. I also rarely quote an entire post especially those with pictures just so I can add a, "lol", to it.

I understood all of your words and that you feel strongly about it. I don't know that the table was altered. All I have so far are Danny's incoherent ramblings which don't mean anything to me. I'm just happy it got a little press and I've yet to see anyone else top it on that table or any other.

True, we have no evidence of table doctoring, and you have every right to reject that claim as "factual" since you have seen no evidence affirming it, but neither has it been proven to be unaltered, so it does, in fact, remain a "possibility". And while you are wise enough to demand "proof" concerning the table, are you also wise enough to demand the video "proof" concerning the run itself?

I did hear so it's hear say DO wanted a crack at it on the same table if enough money was envolved guess that never transpired and I would guestion if that table is even available in the same condition today ,
I vote for a impeachment of JS and the record and we can settle this argument once and for all 😂😂😂

You keep posting this shee-at, are you getting senile?!

It reads: "I've heard..."

To say Mosconi's run was not legit based on this hearsay reference in a LTTE is total ca-ca.

Lou Figueroa

It is somehow less credible that claiming a table has shaved pockets, without evidence?

Interesting

I can’t speak for what anyone else has alleged.

All I know is that without unedited video, given that it was a table specifically setup for a high run attempt, it is a possibility.

Balls hit EXTREMEY hard, are jumping. I would nearly agree with you if the ball wasn't hopping on its way into the hole. Bouncing balls are just that.

Yes. Mosconi's run was not legit. Take a gander at this:

Well 1 thing the article does say is Babe Cranfields run of 768 was considered an Exhibition and no one has ever had a doubt about and it should 100% be considered the highest run ever. Im certain there is no unedited video or any video or any video as they didn't do that stuff back then and really almost no one does it now.

Offer to John to make money and a couple facts

John Schmidt had a live stream for all his practice for months at easy street and bullshooters. Why wasn't there a live stream this particular day of the (626) or any of the days before this (626). That's another reason it sounds so fishy. Why wont he offer the unedited and edited videos for sale. Certainly he can make money from them especially if we all pitch in and get him a guaranteed amount like 10k then who cares if someone makes a copy at that point really. Have everyone sign the million dollar liability paper if they make a copy then they are subjected to a law suit. No matter if I like John or not I want to believe him but there are just to many variables and his history is not very good in many directions.
Also what about the table at Bull shooters. Is this table open for others to play on to attempt to make high runs on. Is the table open for inspections to everything to make sure not only its legit but also to protect history. I mean 626 is like the 5th highest run ever figuring Cranfield broke 700 twice and Mosconi said he broke 600 3 times and also Mike E.

what is the scoop on the table?

What is the scoop on the table? Can anybody look at it now? Can they play on it? Did a team of men in black suits show up soon after the alleged record and erect high barriers around the table, cut it up, and spirit all of the pieces away in briefcase sized chunks? Does the table currently reside in area 51?

I don't know a thing about the table, the balls, any coating on the balls, the cloth, any games played with the cloth. However with all of the hurrah about everything I keep returning to the impossible scratch. In about fifty years of play I have never seen a ball behave like that and it not be able to be duplicated over and over. At the very least I could find a bias weighted ball or one that was substantially out of round and rolled oddly if not exactly the same over and over.

Any time I think about the possibility of equipment being doctored I think about that scratch and that is a fact! He sure plays some mean pinball!

What is the scoop on the table? ...
So far as I know, the table is still the front table at Easy Street in Monterey. The cloth was removed to make souvenirs, I believe. Here is the equipment list distributed by Doug Desmond who racked the vast majority of the racks for John's attempts:

14.1 Challenge IV
Easy Street Billiards
Monterey, California

John Schmidt Equipment List:

Rebco Pocket Billiard Table 4½ x 9
Drop Pockets - No Ball Return
Simonis 760 Tournament Cloth Blue
5 inch Corner Pockets
5½ inch Side Pockets
Sardo Rack
Super Aramith Pro Belgian Billiard Balls
Predator P3 Red Butt
Predator Revo 12.4mm Carbon Composite Shaft
19.5 oz and 58 inches
Techno Dud Tip by Outsville
Taom Pyro Blue Chalk
Predator Second Skin Billiard Glove
Predator Urbain 3x5 Hard Case Red

Didn't you try to duplicate that scratch?

Bob,

I am working from memory but didn't you try to duplicate that scratch?

Good point. But you have people on both sides, listing off the alterations as if its cool. Its like they don't know they should be hiding it. The alterations are listed consistently on both sides of the coin. Giant pockets, shaved slate, dead rails, constant polishing of balls...thats enough to get a world class player to break records. Nothing but fraud.

the gaff table accusations are imo the most silly. the table is there for you to inspect. and mr jewett i believe inspected it before the 626.

i'll give you the ball polishing, but i don't think that diminishes the achievement in any way.

the video can be doctored, sure. but the bca viewed the unedited version, and in time i suspect we will all be able to. meanwhile, schmidt is trying to make a buck for his effort, and i don't blame him.

My personal favorite is the shaved or sanded slate. Zero evidence and zero reason to believe any such doctoring happened but once someone says it the list of things that might have happened grows and grows, repeated over and over.

Sent from the future.

Like this type of thinking.

Enjoy your superbowl….

And was the 626 table the same one on which John's run of 434 in Dec. 2018 ended with the dipsy-doodle scratch?
Yes. I'm pretty sure he used the same table for all three of his marathons at Easy Street. For the first two, the balls were racked at the head of the table. For the last set of tries and the 626 the balls were racked at the foot end.

The amazing "Mosconi-induced" scratch actually happened on the end of the table opposite the name plate end. (The table has no ball return so head/tail is a toss-up.)
