2009 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

ran a 24 on saturday night -1/17/09
ran 10, then a rack, but fell short on the break ball.

24 is my new high run though.

Mildly drunk, but good!

Tonight, Jan. 24, I got a 36! My highest run since the 2007 challenge! :-)

I started off with a 10 and drew the cue ball into the rack quite nicely. From the kitchen I chose a conservative angle to make sure I made the ball. I only broke out a few balls, but made it through the second rack. Then in the last rack I ran 12, and it was not an easy rack. I had to start out with a fairly tough combination.

I knew my run was over before I missed. I had to cut the 7 at a funny angle into the side to break apart the two remaining balls. I could have made it in the far corner easily, but then my run would have been finished for sure. Glad I didn't miss some stupid, easy shot!

The best part was, I was playing 60-50. The score was 21-39 when I started my run. I had been playing terribly, on account of having drank at dinner! Looked pretty grim. But I managed to eek out a win! I wasn't even sure I wanted to play, but I'm sure glad I did now!

~~

Edit. Forgot to add, this is my highest run in competition also! 42 is my high, but that was in practice, so this is real good for me.

Had a 46 on Thursday, 1/22/09, my high run. Just bought the Rempe instructional DVD's, my goal for this year is 50!

Justin.

Edited to add: This makes my 141st post. Freaky.

I finally broke out of the 2-3 rack rut with a 68 this morning. The run ended when I got stuck to a ball when breaking open a cluster.

I ran 33 yesterday (Feb. 1st).

Edit: If it matters this was on a 9' GC III.

At Derby City (Jan 2009), Danny Harriman, Huidji See, and Darren Appleton had runs of 114. Charlie Williams had a smooth 85. Thorsten Hohmann had an even 100. Corey Deuel had a 153 and Schmidty had a 154 (but he already has a higher run this year). Marop had a 68. Beau Runninger had a 100 and a 98 but I don't know that he posts here.

Danny, Darrell, Charlie and Thorstenn all post here.

Jeannette Lee had a run but don't remember right now what it was. Feijen had something in the 70s and Mika I think had something in the 40s. I think they post here too. Bob J will have the exact numbers as will Elvi.

All these runs were on a tough Diamond.

I ran 22 last night, thats my new high run.

I started playing in a league and have won 3 of my first 4 matches. Last night I was giving someone 30 balls in a race to 70 then I broke to start the match and I scratched and he ran the first rack so he was up 44 to -2 in a race to 70.

Came down to him have 63 and I had 57 and I ran the last rack to win 70 to 63.

Hey Dennis/Andy,

I respectfully ask that Charlie's and Thorsten's runs do not get added to the list - Thorsten hasn't posted since October 2007 and Charlie only posts ads. Both are good guys but I'm not sure what purpose adding them to our list serves...

In my opinion, the spirit of the list is for posters who contribute meaningful posts to the board on at least a semi-regular basis, or for new posters who look like they will soon.

Ran a 52 today. I beat my best this year by one ball. lol. The miss came on the break ball, biggest twitch ever.

Also had runs of 38, 25 and 27.

(these runs seem kind of silly when posted beside Mr. Schmidt's, lol).

You are probably right, Steve. I did remember seeing Thorsten and others on the earlier lists and that is why I mentioned them.
