Let me first say I'm sorry & apologize to all AZ'ers for any problems I may of caused you by my being behind on orders and for any comments I've made in the past. I am especially sorry to all of my wonderful customers & friends here on AZ...I'm sorry many of you have to wade through the daily headlines. Sadly most of the Varney haters are NOT customers or even have a cue ordered. They are a small group simply trying to cause me grief. I very much appreciate the tons of support from my many past customers here and from my friends here as well. I would also like to give a special THANK YOU to Miles as we've recently shared a bit with each other & I'm very proud to call him my friend. I also want to publically apologize to the moderators for what I'm sure is the daily headache I cause them.
This thing has gotten out of control and I am here now to straighten a few things out. When people start making uncalled for comments toward my wife then that is simply enough...period.
Now to clear up some rumors. Yes I got slammed with recent orders but I am only really behind on about 20 cues and I'll be caught up entirely by this fall. Since I've stopped accepting new orders things are moving along quickly. I've too recently hired a friend of mine to help with some of the time consuming task that will also be of a huge help to me.
As for Cincyman's cue...yes I screwed up. I did indeed tell him I had an ebony hustler blank turned near finish size. It was one of the very nice old ebony Duff blanks. Truth is after turning it to final size...I simply was not happy with the way the points had gaps that looked to be filled with wood filler or such by Dufferin. I'm sure most players would of been fine with the cosmetics of the blank but I was not. I just didn't want anyone posting close up pics asking why the sides of a couple points had a "filler" veneer. So I started over from a oversize real ebony fullsplice and not a Duff blank. I now have the new blank finally turned to size so the cue will ship in a matter of days. I will do my best to get it shipped this week but it is a short holiday week. Worst case senario it will ship Mon....there, all of AZ has it in writing...Monday at the latest. Despite what many others may have done...I did NOT rush this cue or take any shortcuts. As I've said before I take great pride in my work as these cues will represent me forever.
Also yes, despite my best efforts some cues are out of order. Some were easier builds, some go together perfect, some require that I simply start over. I have one cue now that is #3 as the others developed issues. Wood often has a mind of its own as many of you know. My cues are not the nicest or fanciest, I'll be the first to admit. Performance is my #1 goal and I do strive for perfection. I would like to add that I also have a customer receiving grief about when he ordered his completed cue. Well he didn't order it, he simply purchased the rights to the cue from the original customer. I have Bnall's ebony/bem cue near finished too and if he decided to sell it today before it was complete then thats entirely his business....the new owner should not in any way be hassled or have his name tarnished.
I've said enough. Know too that I will not be responding to this or any other threads in the near future as I'd much rather let my actions speak for myself. I'm going to simply spend my time in the shop completing past due cues and I will post pics in the Gallery for all to enjoy. The completed cues will speak volumes more than any words.
Thank you to everyone for their time.

Absence of contrition, a requirement in any sincere mea culpa, is insincerity at it's finest.

All I have to say is Kevin better warn cajun if he's going to stop walking. Cajun might lose his head...............or at least half of his face.

What I don't understand is why not COMMUNICATE this to Cincyman (and the others) during the time they have been waiting patiently for their cues. It might have helped alleviate this problem before it became one.

That certainly is some funny shit!!!!!

A excellent question Jay! This question may as well be on a mensa test,
for it is a question that is very difficult to answer! I will post a photo of
a 2pc house cue in the cue gallery, i hope this helps!

That is why I pointed out the lack of contrition.

what i don't get is the long waits for fairly simple cues. cajun's cue was just a sneaky pete with 2inches of really nice maple at the bottom.

Nobody is out to get you, Kevin. We just are (and should be) protective of our members who we think are being mis-treated.

My opinion is when it comes to business, it is best to be forthcoming, but especially when things aren't going well, because people can be very forgiving. This post should go a long way to help, but actual follow through is what everybody will be looking for.

I'll keep my faith that you indeed come through for these customers and straighten everything out so you can proceed with re-building your business. For the sake of your family, I truly hope that your business thrives well into the future.

Chris

nice one Kevin for the update, hope you keep the ball moving swiftly along and looking forward to my cue.

and come on man what more do you want???

the man has said sorry multiple times, admitted he screwed up, and is working round the clock to complete the remaining outstanding cues.

you said yourself, you don't have a cue on order, so why are you so angry?? why do so many people seem to get so much pleasure from crucifying someone and pummeling them into the ground?

(but I am glad you posted cause I would love a bit of Christina Aguilera)

I stayed away from the last few threads on purpose but this one I will respond to.

WB... You are right about one thing, he has said he is sorry multiple times.

The problem is how he then goes on to blame others, make excuses, and lie to back up his own mistakes, it makes the apology mean nothing. Most AZers already know this but it seems there are a few that have missed it. Don't get me wrong, I am not picking on you nor do I care to argue about it, but KV will never learn. He is what he is and these bs apologies mean nothing.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

Excellent post Jay. I'd be mass emailing my customers before I worried about a bunch of people on a message board.

What's the old saying "an ounce of prevention..." :wave3:

If he had done this in the first place there wouldn't have been a 28 page thread and a couple of bannings...:deadhorse:

I'm such a newbie that I'd never even heard of the word "nuthanger". Now I understand its meaning thoroughly. After all the evidence presented in these Varney threads, I can't imagine a reasonable person having anything whatsoever to do with Mr. V or his cues, henceforth. When I joined AZB just a few weeks ago, there was another V thread very similar to this, and it appeared V was accepted back into the fold immediately afterwards - gotta be nuthangers with loud voices, can't be reasonable people, in my opinion. Sorry If this offends anyone, but I don't like to see people get screwed over. Isn't there a saying something like - If it happens once, shame on you. If it happens twice, shame on me. This is too rediculous for words IMHO!!!!!!!!!

Kevin,

You know I am always a phone call away my friend and always willing to help in any way I can, without being asked and no matter what names I'm called or by who. Getting caught up and getting the cues out is what we've been discussing recently and I hope you'll be allowed to do that now.

Still, put me to the back of the list so others can move up and get their cues sooner. I'm not worried when mine might be completed I know it will be, so let it collect some dust for a while and put the others ahead of me.

Your friend,
Craig

Now, let's all get back to feeling sorry for the mistreated cuemaker. Ahhhhh, poor Kevin.

No S--T! Amazing how someone thinks they can just come with the same tired excuses over and over and over and expect everyone to bend to their perception.

I worked for a screenprinter for about 3 years. Every. Single. Order. Every one, was an issue. Lies, missed deadlines, excuses. Never once did the guy allow the focus to be on him...it was always something else, someone else, somewhere else...

I referred someone to him recently, nearly 15 years after I stopped working for him...and the same exact thing happened with my friend's order. 5 dozen shirts that were promised in two weeks took FOUR MONTHS...no calls returned...and nothing but excuses and even attitude when inquiries were made

great business practice!

Gosh, Kevin. There's something here that just doesn't add up for me.

I wonder why the "haters" have singled you out. I mean, why aren't they going after the other cuemakers on AZ like BHQ, Mason, or JC. or even Sirca, Willee, BCM, Lee, or Doug Patrick, etc, etc, (forgive me if I left anyone out).

Do you ever wonder why too? Weird, huh? I just can't figure out how you got that target painted on your chest.

I mean, certainly these other cuemakers have all been late on an order here and there, right? Who knows, maybe they handled it differently? Maybe they kept good communication when they were late on an order?
Maybe when they're late on an order they don't try to push the blame on everyone else?
Maybe they don't play the victim?
Maybe they didn't belittle or threaten their customers?
Maybe they didn't require payment in full as a deposit?
Maybe they would offer a refund on an order that has taken five times longer than promised?
Maybe it's because they don't self promote themselves with tall tales of being the "exclusive cuemaker of such and such professional player"?
Maybe they don't compare themselves to the likes of Andy Gilbert?
Maybe they don't put boxes of bullets in their cue photos?
Maybe they don't try to make themselves the subject of every thread that involves a jump/break cue?
Maybe they don't have pompous signature slogans?
Maybe they didn't bribe customers in exchange for propaganda?
Maybe they're humble?
Maybe they're humble? (oops, I typed that twice, sorry)

I dunno man, I'm grasping at straws here, but there's gotta be a reason, right? You got any ideas?
