Varney Cues said:Let me first say I'm sorry & apologize to all AZ'ers for any problems I may of caused you by my being behind on orders and for any comments I've made in the past. I am especially sorry to all of my wonderful customers & friends here on AZ...I'm sorry many of you have to wade through the daily headlines. Sadly most of the Varney haters are NOT customers or even have a cue ordered. They are a small group simply trying to cause me grief. I very much appreciate the tons of support from my many past customers here and from my friends here as well. I would also like to give a special THANK YOU to Miles as we've recently shared a bit with each other & I'm very proud to call him my friend. I also want to publically apologize to the moderators for what I'm sure is the daily headache I cause them.
This thing has gotten out of control and I am here now to straighten a few things out. When people start making uncalled for comments toward my wife then that is simply enough...period.
Now to clear up some rumors. Yes I got slammed with recent orders but I am only really behind on about 20 cues and I'll be caught up entirely by this fall. Since I've stopped accepting new orders things are moving along quickly. I've too recently hired a friend of mine to help with some of the time consuming task that will also be of a huge help to me.
As for Cincyman's cue...yes I screwed up. I did indeed tell him I had an ebony hustler blank turned near finish size. It was one of the very nice old ebony Duff blanks. Truth is after turning it to final size...I simply was not happy with the way the points had gaps that looked to be filled with wood filler or such by Dufferin. I'm sure most players would of been fine with the cosmetics of the blank but I was not. I just didn't want anyone posting close up pics asking why the sides of a couple points had a "filler" veneer. So I started over from a oversize real ebony fullsplice and not a Duff blank. I now have the new blank finally turned to size so the cue will ship in a matter of days. I will do my best to get it shipped this week but it is a short holiday week. Worst case senario it will ship Mon....there, all of AZ has it in writing...Monday at the latest. Despite what many others may have done...I did NOT rush this cue or take any shortcuts. As I've said before I take great pride in my work as these cues will represent me forever.
Also yes, despite my best efforts some cues are out of order. Some were easier builds, some go together perfect, some require that I simply start over. I have one cue now that is #3 as the others developed issues. Wood often has a mind of its own as many of you know. My cues are not the nicest or fanciest, I'll be the first to admit. Performance is my #1 goal and I do strive for perfection. I would like to add that I also have a customer receiving grief about when he ordered his completed cue. Well he didn't order it, he simply purchased the rights to the cue from the original customer. I have Bnall's ebony/bem cue near finished too and if he decided to sell it today before it was complete then thats entirely his business....the new owner should not in any way be hassled or have his name tarnished.
I've said enough. Know too that I will not be responding to this or any other threads in the near future as I'd much rather let my actions speak for myself. I'm going to simply spend my time in the shop completing past due cues and I will post pics in the Gallery for all to enjoy. The completed cues will speak volumes more than any words.
Thank you to everyone for their time.
Absence of contrition, a requirement in any sincere mea culpa, is insincerity at it's finest.
