A Very Sad Day

My best friend and my old pool playing buddy, passed away in Chicago today. His name is Tom Guariniello, the last time we got to play, we played at Red Shoes. Tom was a good player, and we played in any local tournaments we could find, we also played together on a pool league team in Chicago for several years. We spent many hours playing pool and enjoying each others company. He was like a family member to my family. He was on a donors list for a liver, but it never happened. Before he passed away, he told his sister to make sure I got his pool cue, that is the kind of friend Tom has always been, always thinking of others. I will miss playing pool and enjoying his company so much. Tom, sometimes friends die, but friendships never do, save a place for me.

A very similar thing happened to me about four years ago and I still use my buddies cue now and then. This summer I have been giving some lessons to my buddies Grandson and if things go good I will give that old Palmer to the kid. He has to prove he will take care of it first. The funny thing is the Grand kid knows nothing of his Grandpas cue.

Sorry for the loss of your friend.

Hi there irock,

As life goes on we lose close friends. And Good friends are hard to come by.
Sounds like you two have alot of good memories for you to cherish.
That's pretty special for him to leave you his cue.
His spirit will stay with you forever my friend. They always do......

Take care geno............

So sorry for your loss but, as you've demonstrated so well, the memories are for keeps.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost a good friend. It sounds like he was fortunate to have such a good friend as you too.

My prayers are with you and his family. What a wonderful blessing to have had such a relationship. Many never do.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. I have been there, as others here have, and know the empty feeling it leaves. In time, you will cherish the memories and the fun you had together.
