Last night UpstateAl, Gammaray, Jamison Neu, and I were on Skype solving all the world's problems when Mander's name popped up on UpstateAl's list. Al said he was going to invite her to the group and reminded us to congratulate her for winning the Houston Open." Of course we said, "bring her in, bring her in!" She has got to be one of the nicest people in pool ... and so humble. It was such a delight speaking with her and boy did we have more then just a few laughs.
Toward the end, when she had to leave, I wanted to tell her that I had been following her on many a stream (never in person darn it), watched her progress, and that I thought someday she would end up in the HOF just like Robin Dodson should she continue as she has. I also told her I thought she should know that a lot of folks think the same way -- all as a means of encouragement. A person with a real (full time) job going undefeated and winning the Texas Open is indeed a very high accomplishment. Imagine what this young lady could do if she were fully sponsored like many of the young ladies overseas.
I asked her to PM me if she is ever in "that situation" where she is "just shy" ($20, $50, $100) of being able attend an event that really meant something to her/her pool career and I would help out where I could. I told her others feel the same way; however, she uttered a bit of disbelief in that humble sweet manner of hers.
Come on AZers, jump in here and show your encouragement (not necessarily monetarily but verbally) to this "feltress" (<---no such word, but it does fit her) who has brought us so many exciting moments on stream with countless more to come.
You rock Manders, on and off the table.....and that's the God's truth girl!
(Special thanks to Trig for introducing me to Manders by way of providing me stream links back in the day!)
