Archer gives Berhman the ABP Seal of Approval

Awesome news but the giant elephant in the room is IF everyone got paid from last year???

The abp holding the funds is WORSE then the BCA holding it like last year. The abp does not have any asset's to go after if anything shady happens!

This announcement does almost nothing to eliminate player fears! If the us open Truly has changed then escrow with an attorney like everyone else does!!!

This looks fine to me on the surface but I hope the ABP doesn't let it go to their head and demand other tournament promoters that have paid on time for years to do the same thing. I hope it works out for Barry and the ABP and puts all the non-payment BS behind and the Open will shine bright again. Johnnyt

You have a good point here. Johnnyt

Forget about the escrow, are they really going to wear the BB jerseys at the open?

I hate the jerseys. But,there is a lot of things bonus ball has done wrong. IMO this is one of the first things they have gotten right. In fact the BB players should be wearing their jerseys in every event that will allow it, plus have a booth set up trying to sell PPVs or whatever they are selling now. They are paid(maybe) employees. Time to take advantage of that.

I was waiting for this announcement, was told a couple of weeks ago they had spoken & something was coming. I'm looking forward to October as always, I know it will be a great
tournament!

Does archer make bonus ball do this ?

I think Archer's hands are tied with Bonus Ball. :embarrassed2:

I'm not sure about the Bonus Ball's involvement in the Open, other than they can wear their uniforms.

The press release did say that Bonus Ball is allowing their schedule to accommodate the U.S. Open.

The Open is always seeded, though I'm not sure what system they will use. Bonus Ball? BCA? Does ABP have one?

One thing that Open needs to consider is to require EVERYBODY to be present at the mandatory players meeting. In the past, they allow some players to come 2 and 3 days later in an effort to accommodate them. To me, that seems unfair to those who have to be there at the players meeting and incur all the expenses.

And I guess I'll be the first one to say it. If the BB players can wear jerseys, the the rest of the competitors should be allowed to wear somethning similar, instead of the dress code of collared shirts.

On a good note, I think it's great they are having it at the host hotel. It will fill up quick, so folks better get their reservations in. It is nice to stay at teh same hotel as the tournament venue. It's convenient. Across the parking lot, they do have that place (can't remember the name) where you can rent by the week that has kitchinettes, which is a nice alternative. The Red Roof, if it is still there, across the street would be the most economical.

October will be chilly in Chespeake Beach, Virginia. Bring some sweaters and light coats.

Bravo to Barry Behrman.

Sounds like good news. As a history buff I was worried that the longest running tournament in pool with all that history would be lost, but it sounds like it will continue which is good for the game. Let's just hope it goes off without a hitch.

Good news! This is something that helps some of the players decide to participate or not in this year's event. I guess Johnny would not have supported the efforts of the Open if all the players had not been paid.

Guess some of our posters need to "lighten up", stop the hate, and support the U.S Open.

I thought I would not be able to make it this year, but on Monday, I somehow found a good travel offer and I will be there to support Barry and Shannon.

I'm glad to see Barry understands how serious the pay issue is, and is taking steps.
Better we should praise the fact that he's listening and doing the right thing,
and not get too hung up on who's holding the cash.

Do you mean like seeding ABP players 1st?. Johnnyt

Apparently, the US Open will be sanctioned by the World Pool-Billiards Association (WPA); therefore, I'm guessing that any seeding will be done according to WPA points list.

If they don't follow WPA seeding will they lose their sanction? Johnnyt

Did they have a choice? What happens if they schedule bonus ball in conflict with the Open and the top players leave bonus ball for the Open?

Pimping ain't easy.

Since it seems several AZers well be coming to the Open this year, we should have some kind of get together. I look forward to seeing everyone there, I know Barry & Shannon appreciate everyone's support!
