Bar Table Champions

There are a lot of names mentioned in this thread. Great players, but it seems someone's name is missing....... who could it be? Oh, I remember. The 2008 U.S. Bar Table Champion. And Jay......you called the finals match! If I remember correctly, a double dip of Parica. Less than a year ago. How quickly we all seem to forget. What was his name?

Yes, Mitch is an excellent player. He is now recognized among the top young talents in the USA. This thread focused on players from the Northwest who don't get the respect they deserve, especially on the small tables.

i need to know who your partner is.do you want to play 8 ball or 10 ball
?
I thought the same thing myself - how can you make an offer to play and won't even state who your partner is?

I was told that Mitch is not much of a gambler and that is probably another reason why he was not considered.

In my usual lurking ways, I've noticed that many posters on here don't appreciate bar table play nearly as much as they do as big box play. Let me tell you, 9-ball on the bar table can be type of jokish at times, but there are some undercover monsters out there that not just can, but do play better than most top tier pros on the little track. I don't want to start a woof-fest about betting an imaginary $10,000 that has no substance to the claim, and I definately don't want anyone outed. There definately has to be some knowledge by more experienced players with what I'm talking about here. I've lived in a few states in my 22 years on Earth, and I've been lucky enough to gain very critical information regarding wolrd class bar table play. I don't play world class, but let me tell you, there are so many more moves for jam-up runouts and lockdown safeties than what 90% of the pool world realizes. To get slightly off topic in my own thread, I have met, befriended, and sometimes ran around with absolutely stone cold bar table killers who I won't out, but their knowledge and insight into small table theory is seriously astounding. Many of the moves are so complex and ingenious that one pocket players don't see them so easily. Now I know that most of the moves are used on the stall when the out seems too difficult for stall play, but if you ever study or are lucky enough to run around with any of these small track killers, count yourself lucky, because what you can learn is invaluable. Believe me, the big track champions don't always have to be the favorite when playing a world-class bar tabler.
where have you been i would like to play one of your unknown champs.

so when i say i can do it its because i have done it.
call up tanglewood ,by the way pga tour player and my good buddy who has seen me play like this boo weekley will tell you that is as tough of 6200 yards as you want.

sorry,i wasn't trying to upset you, just letting you know you have action.

I like all three of these guys in bar table tournament play (Atwell, Tourangeau, Montal). They can stand up against anyone. Gambling it's harder to say. Probably my pick of the three is Edwin for the cash.
I definately agree here.Edwin is scary when there is cash on a bar box match.

To the OP,Walty is that you?LOL

This post read that there are undercover monsters that will beat the top pros. Lol!!!!!!! That is retarded.

um...there are.
Sorry.
It just happens.
Put Melissa Little onto a barbox, and her game isn't even close to what she is on a 9' table.
There are people that post here regularly that can probably attest to similar scenerios with other players that are used to being able to turn loose the cueball with lots of room to move.
Put those same players onto a small cramped table with less room to maneuver, and you end up with alot of hooks happening.
And there are ALOT more barbox players than there are pros.
Do the math, there are still some unknowns out there, that are monsters.
At least outside of their respective areas they are unknown....

Well just send any "unknown monsters" and i'll play any of them on the bartable and they get 2-1 playing a 15 ahead. I also doubt I'm considered a top bartable player.

Careful, You may end up with Caesar Morales Jr.

Good Example

Glenn Atwell just won against SVB last night at the Reno Bar Box Championships. (7-5)
Good example of a monster barbox player beating a top pro.

Congrats to Glenn!!! :thumbup2:

I watched the TAR stream last nite while out in my garage hitting balls... but unfortunately for us here in the PNW, they showed very little of Glenn's match with SVB because the feature match in that time slot was Daz and the Sleeve playing for the point (iirc).

The Atwell/Moore match will be on Tar at 1pm PST.
Good Luck Glenn!!!!!

There used to be a guy named Chino in Chicago, who knocked off at least 3 pros for over $10k in the 70's-80's. I bet JayH, Matlock, or maybe Watchez has seen or heard of him before.

Hey is Sammy Soto still around? I have never met him but heard he played out of Du Quoin at the Corner Pocket....I know when I lived in St. Louis he had come around and snapped off a few tourneys and money games. In fact, he would turn with his back to the camera for the pictures posted in the old "Ball In Hand" paper that used to circulate...those were the days of ACTION...major tournaments every month with 100+ attendees...

I saw Sammy 10 years ago at a 24 hour pool hall in Chicago...Chino is supposedly in Cali but has played in St. Louis a bit as well.
