Best "Celibraty" Pool Player?

Anyone ever seen or heard of pro golfer Walter "Smiley" Jones with a cue stick in his hand? Maybe 30-40 years ago on the East Coast?

You guys forget current times. Mark Kendall, the lead guitar player for Great White is a very good player. OK my husband got me on this on.

Alex "Spanador" Moseley

I'll add Alex "Spanador" Moseley the guitarist from Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. Sorry if he's already on here and I missed it. I played with him about 15 years ago at a hall in Brooklyn, NY that sadly isn't open anymore and the guy was a pretty strong player. I'd say he was roughly a mid level A player at the time.

Good shooting to you!

Kevin

I used to know Joe Rogan before his career rocketed into the stratosphere (and before he knew how to hold a cue). Past his uber alpha-male persona, he's a great guy, very decent, extremety generous (even before he had $) and fiercely loyal to his friends. Joe learned the game from many a great player, one of whom was what I would describe as a Pool wing man of Ginky. Some of you may know him, he went by the names Johnny B and New Rochelle Johnny. He was a regular back in the day at Chelsea Billiards, Society, and Mammoth in NYC.

Knowing Joe's passion for the game back then, I can only imagine how intense his game is today. I haven't seen him in many years, but have cheered him on as his career has caught fire. It might be easy to say success couldn't have found a nicer or more deserving guy, but the truth is Joe hunted down success like it owed him money. If you're lurking Joe, I couldn't be happier for you! -Steve

Dicky used to play Randolph Mantooth from the show Emergency, years ago, on Catalina Island. Talked about a going on the guys boat also to party. Couldn't tell you who won 'cause Dicky never made it home with the money if he did win.

The best celebrity pool player who wasn't a pool pro was, as far as I know, Leo Durocher, the former manager of the New York Giants baseball team. Leo "The Lip", as he was known (for arguing with umpires), played a pretty sporty 14.1 game. I recall reading somewhere that Leo hustled Major League baseball players, as well as celebrities in Hollywood.

His marriage to actress Laraine Day opened the door for Leo into the world of show biz, and he made the most of it. Supposedly, he ran over a hundred balls in 14.1.
Maybe someone could verify this? Leo's in Cooperstown, along with his famous wisecrack, "Nice guys finish last".

Here's a photo of Dorocher, showing a fine bridge, with "Ducky" Medwick on the left.
I hope someone can identify the other guys.

These guys are dressed the way pool players should to exemplify style and class.

I saw a Flip Wilson show where he played Bill Russell I think, Flip broke the balls , at 9 ball and ran out on stage the first game .
I don't know if the show was live or taped , but he must have played ok to run out at all .
Also the guy that played the judge on Night Court was an ok player. Harry Anderson
