Best hitting cue for $1200 buck?

With out a doubt Rick Howard. IMO best player out there. Especially in that price range plus many others.

With Kent Davis you get a lot of bang for your $$. His shafts are very select, as are his other cue woods. Most forearms are radially laminated. Fit and finish is first tier quality. He has a good following in the the LA area. If he lived in Florida, he'd be the next cuemaker people were "gaga" about, IMO.

Mike Lambros among the many already mentioned. I just happen to have a curly maple w/ ultra joint/ 2 shafts/leather wrap that I will be posting soon.

Thanks, I have 3 left at closeout prices! He could buy 2 and still have plenty of jack left for something else! BTW, many good suggestions here. Carmeli would be another super strong choice. I'm talkng new, unchalked and available.

See if Jazznpool has any Ned Morris cues that you like...they hit great..

Having played with a lot of cues, in my personal experience, the best cues in terms of playability are Sugartrees, Bluegrass and Omens.I like them so much, that i still own one of each and i don´t expect me to sell them ever.
In the future i want to try out Zylr, MasonH and Ed young.
Oh what an expensive hobby......

As stated above, the best hitting cue for one maynot be the best hitting cue for you. Everyone has their own preference as you can tell by all the different cuemakers stated above. Some people like hard tip, some like soft, some like layered tip, some not. does the tip make a difference in how the cue "hit"? yes! It all about what YOU like and what you feel is the best hitting cue for YOU. Does a cue have to be expensive to be a great cue? I dont think so. What you pay for is the craftmanship put into building the cue. I think one piece house cue with a good tip would be the best hitting cue. I'm waiting for someone to make a cue case for that and I'm all over it!

Best hitting cue

The best cue is the one you like! Everything else is someones opion! Not saying that as a negative, Its just no 2 players are the same, If you understand simple physics you allready understand the point. Get something that feels comfortable to you an makes you more confident when you play an you will play a ball or 2 better than you do now, We all have different tastes! And I will tell you there are a hell of a lot of good cue makers out there,I own about 25 cues at this time, I had over 50 2 years ago by at least 20 different cue makers,

Such cases already exist in the snooker world.

I want everyones opinion on the best hitting cues for $900 to $1200 bucks. So lets have it what is the best hitting for the price?

THIS QUESTION CAN'T BE ANSWERED BY ANYONE BUT YOU...... WE ALL LOOK FOR DIFFERENT THINGS OUT OF CUES.

WHAT I LOVE, YOU MAY HATE, AND VICE VERSA....... YOU NEED TO TRY SOME CUES, FIND THE ONE THAT BEST FITS YOUR "MAGIC WAND" CATEGORY AND STICK WITH IT.

THERE ARE A LOT OF SOLID CUE BUILDERS IN THAT PRICE RANGE, BUT WITHOUT MY "VULCAN MIND MELD" I/WE CAN'T ANSWER THAT QUESTION HONESTLY.

THERE ARE SEVERAL MAKERS THAT HAVE BEEN MENTION THAT I WOULDN'T USE AS MY PLAYING CUE, BUT I'M SURE THERE ARE PLENTY OF PLAYERS USING THOSE SAME CUES.

Marcus

P.S. I'D NEVER PERSONALLY BUY A CUE FROM A CUEMAKER THAT PLUGS HIMSELF IN A THREAD LIKE THIS.

These are all great cues mentioned. The best bang for the buck with the most consistant hit in my opinion; Mike Capone.

For $1200 shipped, I have got a wonderful 6-point hoppe style Gilbert cue....ebony into bird's eye maple with veneers...solid black linen wrap...two shafts...ivory joint and hoppe ring. This cue is a few years old, but still like new condition.

Feel free to PM me if any interest...can get some images later today.

Me and sean have talked before, i'm not sure if he remembers but when it comes to andy's work we're on the same page. andy makes one of the best cues available for the money. they look great! they hit better than they look! and on top of all that his prices are still reasonably low

i've got a 6 point 5 veneer ivory jointed andy gilbert that i paid right around 1200 for. the cue plays exactly how i think a cue should play!
