Billiards Babe

I never stated that Jasmin used sex to sell pool.

I cannot explain this with any more clarity.

I think this line from your first post is probably what confused readers about your intent:

JAM:
I know this Billiards Babe can play her some good pool, but I personally can't stand seeing pool sold like this.

I know you didn't mean it that way, but it sounds like you're saying you can't stand seeing pool sold like "this Billiards Babe" sells it. I took it that way at first too.

Once you explained, then I understood that your thread title is a satirical reference to the general practice of selling pool using sex appeal, not to Jasmin doing that herself (although she's eminently qualified).

I am sorry you feel that way.

It seems no matter what I post in recent times, it is misinterpreted.

Again, I apologize for you thinking that I was attacking you. I did have trouble understanding the words you had written, but it may be because of my job. An occupational hazard, if you will.

My threads turn sour because I am hated on this forum today by quite a few members who think I am no good.

I received a post from a dear friend who is an industry member in recent times. I am sure he will read this post here too. He was upset because I would not own up to knowing him on this forum when his good name was attacked, but I had my reasons.

I hate to break it to you and wish there was a gentle way to inform you that this is ONLY a billiard forum.Opinions are usually remembered by no one other then the maker.People who post fluff (not cue making , table set up, shot strategy, etc) are not serious enough to be "hated on this forum". It's not like you took money and did'nt deliver.Further you did not create a thread to exploit the misery of a competitor.Remember, because it happened to you does not make it important.Perhaps if you deleted the moving picture from the bottom of your post the unacknowledged would find your posts less obnoxious.

Six Hours of Pool on ESPN Today

I guess this is off-topic in this flame thread, but the program JAM mentioned is SIX HOURS of men's and women's pool, starting at 11AM and going until 5PM (my time).

Just 'cause it's on your time doesn't make it important. :D j/k!!!

Group hug, and then let's sing Kumbya. :canoodle:

ps: ESPN coverage starts at noon MY time. And for anyone else that wants to watch, noon here is noon EST, lol. God knows I luv AZB, even in its weaker moments (or maybe I'm still blowing a .12 from skanking up the tables last night on L.I. Tea....) Happy Saturday friends!

who says pool can't go after the female viewers, when you see this you're thinkin "damn I wanna play me some 9-ball"

You know this forum would be much more pleasant and have about 140 less meaningless posts in the past 2 months if you two would just make a point to stay out of one another's threads.

I'll preface this by saying that I like both of you. Please remember the following:

1. Everyone posts worthless crap every once in a while
2. Online it is a necessity to have a sense of humor
3. If you don't agree with something, that does not mean you have to make a post about it
4. If this must continue. The volleying back and forth could be restricted to just one thread and therefore every thread we read would not have to contain it... my vote to start a Why JAM and Corvette hate each other thread

Why is the article entitled "Billiards Babe"?

The article is entitled "Billiards Babe" because she's a stone cold fox. It doesn't take anything away from her as a player, IMO. I don't see people pissing and moaning about Maria Sharapova, Natalie Gulbis, Morgan Pressel, Paula Creamer, Amanda Beard, etc. being called babes or hotties or the like.

As to whether or not it helps the WPBA and pool, consider the fact that the ratings for Jasmin's first appearance on ESPN a couple years back were among the highest in years for a US pool event. If memory serves, the first airing pulled over a .6 rating. Compare that to the recent SD Classic which averaged around a .3 rating.

Maybe its just me, but I'd much rather watch Jasmin play than Karen the Librarian. Being a top notch player and being easy on the eyes isn't a bad thing.

How could anyone NOT want to see this jewel run a rack of 9 ball?

this is her brother, also her husband. Wouldn't you want to watch those two play a scotch doubles match?

I personally don't enjoy looking at the fake sweat glands in forum members' avatars and degrading sexual poses, but these images seem to bring others enjoyment.

Jam, not everyone looks. I get a kick out of this photo with Steve Tipton's hands crossed and his head hung trying very hard not to look up.

Are you sure he doesn't have a foot fetish?

Although "sex sells" is no secret, I dont feel that the success of the WBPA is based on that principle.

You DON'T????????????

Perhaps you should look at the matches that ESPN chooses to play most. Last I saw, some of our more out of shape women pros don't get very much airtime. I'm not saying it's right, but I think we all know what ESPN has in mind by allowing women's pool what little airtime it gets.
