Bob Jewett - U.S. Open 9-Ball player 2012

Does he keep his cue in that briefcase? :)

No.

But if he is playing a match and I am at the table and he goes for the briefcase, I would request a tournament director to watch the rest of the match.

naw, see you gotta understand the bob.
a briefcase would be too obvious, thats just a distraction.
its his cue you have to worry about.
it has an invisible laser-sighted and computer controlled balance and speed system, which helps him deliver the perfect stroke every time.

only problem is, he keeps buying cheap batteries

I have actually seen inside the briefcase a couple of times and it is a terrible sight to behold. Enough to make mortal man quake.

thank god lou you dont quake you are superman....:)

Thanks for the comments. I haven't been on-line much.
I played a lot better than my first try a couple of years ago -- think APA 4.
I lead Oscar briefly at 3-2. In my final match I made some good shots but also did two or three really bad shots which was the difference.

In my first match I did the "sideways masse" that has been discussed recently, made the ball and got nearly straight on the next ball at the other end of the table. A little too straight. I think it was the first time I've ever played it in a tournament. Preparation is important.

Bob,

Just curious, did you get much practice time in before the tournament? Did you have access to a Diamond? Once you were there, were tables available for practice?

Hi Bob!

Congrats for the better play, and -- all things considered -- for a sporty showing against Oscar!

You might, at some point after you get settled, share the link to that shot demontrated, so folks here know what you're referring to.

(Or, Dr. Dave -- if you're reading this -- if you have that shot on video, a link would be appreciated.)

Again, congrats! I'm envious -- couldn't make it down there this year.

Ditto! Way to represent, dude!

Here's a demo of the type of shot Bob mentioned:

Other related examples can be found on the after-collision masse shot resource page.

Dave

Very helpful shot and not very difficult when close to the pocket. I first seen and learned this shot from John Shmidt. Very good to know
