Try some pain killers, Percacet 30mg is good one that should take care of your pain, now I don't know what it will do to your game but your form will not suffer a bit!!!!!:)

Well OK Dr. Faust. If you do not have physical ailments except when you play pool, another question begs to be answered. How many hours per day do you play pool?
JoeyA

Me too, sometimes

After a layoff of several months-I hurt also for several weeks until the body remembers that it is OK to assume this position. Usually it is my lower back and calves for a while. Then later if I play for 6-8 hours straight(golf game) then more just general fatigue.

It can be rough on your game when it forces you to shoot too quickly, just to be able to stand back up. Maybe some stretching? Or, play through it.

Hope you get it figured out. Hurting is no fun.

Start stretching the hammys...that is probably the culprit of your problem.

Think about it a sec...Your back..(probably lower), your legs..(probably hamstrings...and hips..(associated with both)

Now think about what you are doing....bending over at the waist....(puts strain on the hammys).....the hammys connect to your lower back...(puts strain on the lower back)....etc. etc...etc..

same thing happens to golfers.....it is usually the hammys.

Edit: missed the arms comment.....see a physical therapist...

Diabetic Maybe?

Hi there Dr Faust,

I don't know if you are a real doctor but you need to have a simple blood test done and make sure you are not diabetic.

For years I thought I had arthritis, prostate problems, just thirsty alot, and trouble with my vision and yes alot of aches and pains when I played pool. Some days I would just sit in the chair because I hurt so much.

I still played because i loved the game so much and still played at a pretty high level most of the time but I had to finally succomb to the pain.

I quit playing in 1999. I just couldn't get there anymore. it was too painful. After I played for a day or 2 in a tournament I was so wore out and hurt all over that it took a few days just to feel human again.

I got me a good job as a contractor selling cable tv and worked real hard at it for about 6 years. In fact i wore knee braces on one knee all the time since 1996 after having knee surgery twice. It just never seemed to get better.

Finally by 2006 I had braces on both knees. I started going to doctors and they did all kinds of tests. Heart , lung, cat scans, mri, and they even diagnosed me with sleep apnea.

By 2008 I had lost everything I had because i just couldn't go anymore. I felt like am invalid and the doctors couldn't seem to figure out what was wrong.

Nov of 2008 I had a stroke. They called it a mini stroke. No paralysis but it was pretty scary.

Jan 3rd of 2009 I was diagnosed with diabetes. This was what was killing my body. This was what was destroying my life. This was why I hurt all over. I didn't have sleep apnea. It was diabetes that was messing with my breathing. I had blisters and welts on my legs from the braces that wouldn't seem to heal very quickly. I thought i was just alergic to the rubber in the braces. This was from diabetes. Not knowing and eating all the food I did was like putting gasoline on a fire to try and put it out.

After learning this I was relieved only to find out over the next few months what struggle I was in to try and control this very destructive disease that many of us have today.

Within 2 weeks of keeping my glucose levels down I threw away the braces I had worn for 12 years or so. I still have alot of pain here and there but they call it nerve damage from being diabetic for so long and not being diagnosed so i could take care of it.

Why didn't the doctors figure out I was diabetic I don't know? But I'm really glad I finally found out before it killed me.

1000's of people today are walking around with this silent killer destroying their body and don't know it. I'm not saying your diabetic but you could be.

You might have something else wrong with you but you need to get it checked out. And don't give up with the first doctor or the second or the third. I went through about a dozen that I saw over 6 years.

The bad news is that if your diabetic everyday that you don't know you are destroying your body with every bite you take not knowing what to eat.

See a doctor as soon as you can. Bring up diabetes and they will give you a simple blood test. At least this will cross out that for sure.

Then you can go from there.

Good luck my friend. I feel your pain.

This goes for anyone. If you have any of these symtoms you need to get checked for diabetes. Many pool players I know are gone at an early age from this disease. The life style of a pool player is not very diabetic friendly. Most of the place we play pool in are not very diabeteic friendly as far as the food we need to eat to help control it.

Geno...I'll tell you why! Because you had crappy doctors! Blood suger levels are part of ANY diagnostic procedure involving bloodwork...even for a physical. The fact that they didn't even check that is ridiculous. You're right though...there are actually millions of undiagnosed diabetics out there...and just as many who have been diagnosed, but refuse (for various reasons) to accept treatment. For most it's a drastic lifestyle change, and many are just not willing to make the changes. Too bad, it can save your life...as you know.

Well, this is what I have to do and an older guy at the poolhall told me about it.

EAT A BANANA

For me it was the potasisum that I needed, seriously.

I eat one before I play and one after. I can feel the pain go away in minutes.
