Checks Not Cash At The Open

I think for the most part some are jumping to conclusions. This year Berry has to make things right because he has the ABP looking over his shoulders. Archer is the president of the company and that would make him look bad if players didnt get paid. If I am not mistaken, Dennis Walsh is the attorney over the funds in the escrow account for Berry. No need to worry. Have fun and keep breakin em

Guys your talking about the prize money being paid this or that way. All the crap You all are talking about. First show up and support it or Kay in it. Barry has put this Tournament on 38 years. He has paid late in payments But has paid. 171 people showed up and plsyed . Did you? Let the tournament end the champion win and see. You all talk as if he's doing something to hurt the game. You just asked if he owns the open............ Another fool making a comment against the tournament that had been run 38 years by Barry and company. First where would you get the first Dollar or connection to put on this International Tournament. You all talk as if Barry is getting rich or robbing the funds. With "Any" support from the pool players that post on this Forum it could be a great success..... Just keep crying about the open you weren't even at. You'll get wish and one the last Tournaments left in the US that's not a local will be gone like all the others from lack Of Player support . No on has supported the game as Barry B has done and tried. I didn't notice any if you when I looked up from a pool table and I saw very few if you in the stands. O by the way the checks paid out so far have cashed............And when is your open event that added anywhere what Barry just did with 171 players.....oh yeah and played entry for past Champions.............O yeah I Expect you'll have hate messages back for this post but Barry B and family have given us a place to any for 38 years and counting

The very reason I don't go to the Open is because Barry does this year in and year out. Money will be there, for sure, and then BAM! gotta take the prize in payments.

The ABP is NOT a company. It is a very loosely organized assocation, that Archer happens to lead. Don't kid yourself. The ABP was there last year and it didn't matter...Barry paid VERY late. As a result there's appx $40K less in entry fees/payouts. If he doesn't pay (read: checks cash immediately) this time, he is done, imo.

And hererrreeeeeeeee we go.

I am curious.... Does Barry "own" the U.S. Open? Or can someone else decide to hold a tournament named the "U.S. Open 9 Ball Championship" and schedule on top of him?

At this point, I think one more pay snafu, and Barry Behrman's U.S. Open is dead in the water.

How many players didn't come his year because of his tomfoolery?

Russ -

There is already one and it is called the Derby City Classic. Most importantly, its called the "Master of the Table".

You don't have this silly $hit going on.

But whatever.

Please, it's just Barry being Barry. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. Remember he just told everyone yesterday the money was good. And Johnny vouched for him!

O well if Johnny vouched then everyone will take his word for it cuz that guy is the best lol lmao

I heard so far no money issues on paying players. will be knowing for sure at the end when the big checks go out
lets cross fingers for a dramaless us open this time

... Actually I just thought of how it might not be there. I guess if the prize fund isn't supposed to be dependent on entries and they announced the prize fund based on lets say 200 player then they would be short. However, all the money from added and entries is what its supposed to be. Just not enough to cover the advertised payouts. Hope that makes sense. am I right jay? You know tourney stuff as good as anyone.

The prize fund is $135,000 -- $50,000 added plus $85,000 from the 170 players.

The prize fund would have been higher had there been more players.

The money has to be there, if Barry B escrowed the added $$ with ABP and attorney and all the entries went into that account then there is no way that it can't be there right? Also I really don't think that JA would and up there and say its there if he knows it isn't. He just would not get up there imo.

When it comes to Barry, no one knows what's up with the money, not even his beloved Shannon.

So... if everyone gets paid (with good checks) what is the story line then?

It might be an aberration. Only after a few successful, flawless opens will Barry regain the trust of players, fans and sponsors. The heat is really on him this year. He's done if there's any mistakes. The real measure can be made when those that are interested no longer put this event under a microscope. Complacency has doomed many a ventures.

With new investors knocking the door down to in on a sure thing. Johnnyt

anyone in "sales" with a list of those investors-well i mean what's better than a list of gullible RUBES with money who don't even look where they throw it?

Remind us again what the ABP stance -opinion - leadership was on Bonus Ball and their funding.

So you can get cash out of banks in the US in tens of thousands without notice?

Cool...We can't here.

I have a difficult time remembering all of team Barry's promises regarding payment. Was a promise or pledge made for payouts to have been made in cash if so requested? I thought there was IIRC. If that is correct, the funds should have been moved by those managing the $ in escrow, in advance of the finals. You can hire an accounting firm/law firm to ensure the cash is on hand. You don't wait until an hour before payments are due to realize OMG the wire did not go through in time! If promises were in fact made to pay by cash and the funds were not on hand to do so it is just another example of broken promises by team Barry and his partners on this. If you want people to trust your word try not breaking it.
