O.K. fellows we have had the worst-meanest-deadbeat-crookest-nopay-lowdown. my question is who in pool that you have meet that has the most CLASS. for me and i ran tournys for yr!! it would be MR RALPH GEAST playes out of atlanta ga. a pure gentleman in life and pool . a pleasure to be around !!!:thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:
 
For Players that I have met:
Tony Robles (great instructor, very nice guy)
Dave Fernandez (one of the nicest most generally pleasant guys you'll meet-always a pleasure to get beaten by)

Some other class acts I've met in the pool world:

Mike Webb (great cuemaker and all around stand up guy-I've heard nothing but good about him)
Skip Tasker (Skip's Tips-he works out of NH-does phenomenal cue repair work-always a gentleman-that I know of :grin: )
Ron Tocci (and family)--Ron Sr. is New England Billiards Hall of Famer, good teacher, real nice guy. His kids and relatives play pretty strong too!)

Probably Ralf Souquet and Thorsten Hohmann. Both were extremely humble and down to earth and interacted with everyone. They even went out with us in Athens one night and drank a couple of shots. Also, Corey, Gabe, and Stevie are all great for the sport as they will interact with the fans also. I've known Stevie for about 10 years now and he basically lived with us for a while a few years back. He is one of the good guys. I've spent a pretty good amount of time with Corey and Gabe on the golf course and both of them are really down to earth. Brian White is a great guy also. Brian and Stevie would give you the shirts off their back if you needed it.

Stick is a good guy also. He gets kind of ornary in his old age, lol, but he'd give you the shirt off of his back also.
 
I would also like to add Thorsten Hohmann in there. He is very friendly and use his time to talk to anyone who approach him, and is a great ambassador for our sport.

When he played Marlon Manalo in a 10-ball tournament in Palawan, with the call-shot rules, Manalo banked a ball which he hadn't called, and the referee wanted to let Hohmann enter the table. Hohmann declined because he said it was obvious that Manalo went for that bankshot. That's class.
 
My short list -

Ismael Paez - One of the nicest people in the world.
Pat Howey - I love his fighting spirit and positive attitude! Definitely a champion on and off the table!
Tony Robles - A genuinely kind person with a big heart and a big smile.
Allen Hopkins - Simply a great ambassador for the game of pool.
Jerry Forsyth - One of my favorite people to sweat a match with... lol
some bald guy named Ralf - IMO, simply one of the greatest Champions of all time - a good friend - and a awesome person.

For the ladies...

Jeanette Lee - The Black Widow is the standard for class in our sport.
Ewa Laurence - Class and beauty combined.
Pan Xiaoting - Very polite, always conducts herself as a true champion.

....
and my favorite pool player of all -
Carol Clark!

Carol does a benefit every year for the New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation - she has raised a lot of money with the help of many other pool players - in my book, Carol is NUMERO UNO!
 
Efren R., Ralf S. and Thorsten H. for being very humble and true gentleman players of this sport. This guys are a class act.

Jay Helfert for being down to earth. I've nothing but praises for this guy.

I really don't like to base thing on my limited experience, but at the Worlds 14.1 two years ago (I'm going again this weekend) a guy nearly knocked Souquet over seconds after packing his cue cue, asking him to sign a cue ball for him.

He had just been knocked out of the tournament, and was walking toward the door.

I was a few yards away in the stands, and really didn't know how Souquet would act (our about his English!)

He was an absolute gem, signed the cue ball, and gave the fan a minute or two to speak with him. BTW...his English is excellent! :thumbup:

Don't want to put too much into it, but I'm a fan!

Ronnie is actually a really cool guy to be around. He has also gone out with us a couple of times and he's funny as hell. We would bet on every match that was going on in the tourney.

That being said, he knew what he was doing was way wrong and chose to do it anyway. Hopefully he will make good on the debt.
