I just thought everyone should know that the Lindenwood University billiards team had an extremely successful run this weekend at the national ACUI billiards championships.

Briana Miller placed 1st in the women's division.

In the men's division (and pardon my spelling if I've erred):
Landon Shuffett = 1st
Sharik Sayed = 3rd
Sean Sommers = 7th
Jayden Hergott = 9th
Dan Otto = 25th

To place 5 players in the top 25 is an unprecedented accomplishment; and to do so with extremely good sportsmanship and behavior is something we all can admire. Congratulations again to coach Mark Wilson and the whole team in St. Louis who helped these individuals prepare. If the future of the sport looks anything like this, we can all be proud of it.

Awesome! You gotta love what Captain Wilson is doing over there. Congratulations to all the student athletes over in that program. Great accomplishment.

Congratulations to the Lindenwood Lions. They roared loudly!

Hopefully, Mark Wilson will put a little bite into the USA Mosconi Cup Team as well.

Very well done Lindenwood! You have every reason to be proud; from what I understand, the competition was pretty fierce this year. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Willie for the post. I should start looking at the collegiate side of Billiards & Pocket Billiards, there's probably a ton of talent there. Ray Linares is from the pool & he's a great player.

Mark Wilson has shown us that he's can walk the walk with this accomplishment. Hope the Mosconi Cup will be heading this way ...

Good Luck

All of the young men and women who are involved in Mark Wilson's program at Lindenwood will come away with many winning attributes.

Congratulations Lindenwood Lions and great job to all involved!!

Ray

Looks like it was a stroll in the park for the winners:

Brianna Miller played 5 races to 7, winning 4 of them 7 - 0 and one 7 - 4, so the aggregate score in games was 35 - 4.

Landon Shuffett played 7 races to 8, with only one opponent winning more than 3 games (an 8 - 5 match), and the aggregate score in games was 56 - 13.

Good news. I didn't realize Landon Shuffett was attending school in the St Louis area.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful news. Congratulations to these fine young players and to Mark Wilson. Wishing you all continued success going forward.

Sincerely, SJM (2nd place, Eastern Regional ACUI Championships, 1979)

Good Scholarship - Check
Good Sportsmanship - Check
Winning Championship - Check

I'd say that about covers all the bases. Congratulations to Lindenwood, Mark Wilson and the team for a great performance in all areas and defining what the term "Student Athlete" really should be.

Further proof that Mark is the right guy to lead the Mosconi Cup team......

Congrats !!!

ACUI Championship

Congratulations to Mark and to the Lindenwood Lions. Great showing.

This isn't the first time that students of Mark Wilson have won this tournament though! Lars Vardaman was taught early in life about the game by Mark. He went on to win the tournament 3 times! Only one other person has done this befor and that was over 45 years ago.

Mark creates champions!

Congratulations to the Lindenwood team, an amazing accomplishment! Stunning!

And, as has been said by Cuaba, another moment of ringing clarity that Mark Wilson
is the perfect captain for the Mosconi team.
