Some of the best, most insightful threads that have ever been spun on this site have been deleted into the abyss. Some of the most idiotic, too. I've always wondered why the two are seemingly treated the same.

I just noticed the thread started by 'cleary' - named something like 'what is the need for pro pool' - went for quite a few pages- the whole thread was removed!
Why are some threads removed?
If it gets too crazy - maybe banning/censoring individuals would be better than eliminating the thread
My attitude is the some of us spend good time and efforts making posts. If they going to be discarded, why should we even participate? I believe there was a lot of intelligent information in the thread.
This is a minor rant - I'm suggesting maybe exercising a little better judgment on keeping some of the BS posters in line. If not I'm afraid AZ is going to alienate several of the on-point posters.
Comments? Or is this going to be another flame war?
For what it's worth, I'm about ready to take a break from posting. And it's caused by a few individuals who just can't quite grasp the idea we should all be promoting pool and making it bigger and better. Sure there are agendas and competition - but why can't we just agree to disagree?

Nice post!
And too many people on here call for bannings because they cant stand someone disagreeing with them.
Some may argue this point... Dan Aykroyd, Martin Short, Leslie Nielson, Mike Myers, Jim Carrey, ...etc. A big list. Some funny, some corny, but rest assured it's a big list.
And one that towers above them all, Russell Peters. If you get a chance, Tim, check out Russell Peters. There are plenty of YouTube videos of him -- just pick any one.

you cant have people using their real names as stalkers come to them to easily. but certainly a valid email address should be required before posting. this way the mods can bar a person and its tougher for them to just come back in a new form.
have a policy of no personal attacks period. if you do that you get a time out the first time and then a big one the next. then banned for good.[/QUOTE]
That would clean out a bunch of the shit-stirrers real fast, but as long as people are people, there will be passes to be handed out, allowing the shit-stirrers to continue attacking valuable posters.
The truth is there are a few posters whose entertainment is one of the following:
1. Targeting particular posters and attempting to ridicule them under the guise of humor.
2. Targeting particular posters, particularly high-profile posters, like CJ Wiley, making sport of them in an attempt to show their prowess at the keyboard.
3. Targeting particular posters, knowing that these particular posters have a tendency to respond in kind, hoping to inflame their emotions and get a nasty exchange going, all the while, the original troll makes a veiled attempt that he was just having fun.
4. Some respond-posters simply get their jollies at trying to get under the skin of certain posters and the moderators fail to fully muzzle those people tightly enough and they keep coming back time after time, without penalty severe enough to silence them.
Yes, AZB is unfortunately a playground for some mean-spirited people, content with needling posters to the point that in-kind responses are met with disdain and where the moderators delete threads to put the lid on the chaos.
The truth is that the instigators are often given a free pass by the moderators and instead of putting the muzzle on the ones who start the trouble.
Sometimes the moderator decides that it is easier to delete a thread than to muzzle the troublemakers because their perverted sense of humor is either enjoyed or condoned.

... Q. Which demographic is shrinking fastest (in America)?
A. Old white men. ...
It's not really AZ per se but Mr. Wilson. I would bet that 75% or more of the threads that get deleted (or moved to the mod forum where no one can see them), Mike H. doesn't even know about. It is just more of Mr. Wilson wanting to act like he has excessive power and wants to show it from time to time. Or if you single out one of his buddies, even if it is within the rules, he will take action.
I'm still ready to be a mod and my first order will to be to bring threads that were deleted wrongly back.
All things being equal Dave does a great job, however, the board IS in serious need of moderation help and i nominate WATCHEZ, TATE. and SHOOTING ARTS (in no psrticular order).
The first week of 2015 isn't over yet and you have already locked up the funniest post of the year award. Back when I had employees there was a saying around my place, "Hu's way or the highway!" One of my employees started the saying and it lasted until I sold the business.
I have moderated a half dozen sites and been co-owner of one. Anyone from the old shootingarts political forum could tell you that my brother and I didn't tolerate fools gladly or any other way. I don't have the temperament to be a moderator for someone else, the reason I didn't volunteer.
As a past Admin/Moderator I can say I would have pulled the thread in question too. Pages of BS, quoted BS, three or four people needing a not too gentle slap on the wrist. If the software would let you crop off a thread past a certain point it would be nice, might be able to do that now. If not line by line editing to see what posts need clean-up is a royal pain. Then some people quoted posts that needed deleting and made reasonable replies. Leaving the reply out there as an orphan would confuse people.
My hat is off to Mr Wilson, Mike, Jerry, and Chuckles who I have never tried to find out who is although I have my suspicions. I have always made it plain that I didn't agree with their moderating 100% but I can guarantee that people would be a lot less satisfied with mine. I used to edit line by line when I had time putting in notes as I went. When I ran out of time or patience I did my editing with a very blunt instrument!

hmmmmm, i guess Hu is through
tc, a
Don't worry, CJ is making himself look like an ass in other threads too, no one is missing anything.
Hu is indeed through! Hit mod burnout a long time ago. Adam on the other hand, he is the man, the first man! Did you volunteer or do I need to volunteer you?![]()
