"Diamondizing" A Table Thread

The same company that makes Ethan Allen furniture also makes most of the Brunswick tables and furniture. I don't know if thats good or not, just sharing info, no more maybe less.

My idea of best playing is that the rails bounce a true mirror angle on a medium hit shot and that the pockets accept well hit balls.

I have to say that so far the GC's I've played on have usually been much truer than the diamonds in this respect.

AS far as easier to setup to roll true etc... then the diamonds with one piece slate have that market cornered...

Did you get up to Sal's yet, so you can see what it's like to play on a modified Diamond?...or are you going to continue to live in the past;):D
 
Here's a question for you guys....if Brunswick's Gold Crowns were built so perfect...from the GC1's and up...how come there's a few of us table mechanics that can take any one of them....and make them play better than they ever did brand new?....and I don't mean by installing some damn K66 cushions on Brunswick's either...as that is still wrong in my book, and you all would know it too....if you ever played on a GC with the correct K55 cushions, and corrected rails...and for all of you that would argue the point....you don't know what you're talking about in the first place....what do I have to do to show you guys whats right....show up at Hardtimes and rebuild a table myself....set the pockets at 4" with the correct cushions and pocket angles....so I can stand back and watch you all cry about what a real table with tight pockets plays like....what a table with the correct cushions and rails banks like...????...Is that what I have to do....cuz if it is...talk to the owner...and if he'll pay for the cushions and cloth....I'll fix up one of the GC's there at no labor charge....so you guys will learn something:rolleyes:...hell, I could make the pockets 4 1/8" and they'd still play tighter than ones at 4" with the wrong pocket angles!!!

Attention all table mechanics....do everything exactly like Glen or you're all second rate! Ahhhhh, all I know is that my table plays better than the tables at Sal's Place IMO. Ernesto set it up doing all the second rate stuff that you're talking about and it's the best playing table I've ever played on! Funny how that works.
An ounce of humility would go a long way in your case.

It'd be nice if you did that actually, I'd like to see what all the fuss is about over the tables you do (and Butera's is quite far).

Mystery solved. Here's a response to a question about this from Brunswick:

Mr. Bond:

Our tables have been manufactured in "component" form for over 30 years. A
component may be a set of rails, a box of legs, a baseframe, a hardware
kit, a slate set, etc. We source our components from around the world. For
some time during its initial offering some components for the Gold Crown V
were manufactured in Brazil; within the last 18 months all components have
been sourced from China. Following US trade import guidelines, all boxes
for each of our components must be marked with the country of origin. It is
very possible that over the entire time of this table's offerings that
purchasers would receive product from any of our qualified sources. This
would also take into account what product is in a dealer's warehouse, and
when the dealer acquired the table components from our warehouse all this
timeframe.

Congratulations on owning a piece of Brunswick's 165 year manufacturing
history. We will continue to provide the highest quality and well
engineered product, at the best possible consumer price, for consumers to

I will get there and I will post how they play once I do, but Sal's place is quite far from me and it's only been a couple of days since you said I should go there.

I promise I will go there and if the rails bank correct and the pockets don't reject balls, I will create a thread specifically to state such, hell I'll stream it and create a thread for everyone to watch the stream of my test of the tables....

Then I'll go to hardtimes and stream the same test on the GC's there.

The real mystery is whether the table setup person knows how to fix the fit of their "well engineered" products.

Do you have pictures of your sub rails before cloth was installed and after all hand cut miters where done you would see the real picture? Take a divider measure one pocket lock it to that size and recheck other 3 pockets
if not I have some from other table's done by them.

Funny...on a Diamond, a Gold Crown 5, a table I rebuild, a table Mark Gregory rebuilds....you can bank the cue ball 9 rails....perfectly...yet, on your table....try as you may...you'll be LUCKY to hit 7....now why do you suppose that is....since you THINK you know something about pool table mechanics?:rolleyes:

After I wrote my last post, I sealed in an envelope what I thought you would respond. It was word for word what you wrote! Only difference was at the end I had you writing down "I'm very sorry for how I acted and I will be attending Charm School immediately."
So, I was a little off.

For a moment there...I thought you were going to tell me I was not only right about you not being able to bank the cue ball 7 rails on your table....but that you couldn't even hit 6 rails:rolleyes:

that's not a Gold Crown 5 Box. Gold Crown are made in Brazil. Everything else Brunswick makes is in china.

these boxes were marked made in brazil mostly but some were made in the US (castings if I remember correctly)
