Do You Have an All-Time Favorite Type of Pool Shot?

If so ... what does it say about you? About you as a person?

Okay, I’ll begin!

(Since I have somehow managed to misplace a perfectly fine boyfriend, I have a little more time to refocus on pool.)

My personal most-beloved shot occurs -- this is in one-pocket -- when I’m going against a particularly vile opponent (i. e., anyone I happen to be facing!).

I love directing the cue ball into such a precise position that she has to push one or more of her very-makeable object balls away from her very own pocket.

Yes, I am aware of the pettiness that this reveals in my own character.

This schadenfreude -- this delight in the misfortune of others -- is a personal shortcoming that I fully intend to address. Perhaps in a decade or so.

(In the meantime, I’m not above laying down an-ever-so-sympathetic tone … ‘oh, Muffy, that 7-ball is your key ball … do you really have to?’

Heheh.)

What about you?

Your power-break in 9-ball? Captain-of-industry indicator or oppressor-of-the- masses?

Three-rail banking talent? Master of geometric precision or sneaky creep?

Empirical inquiry is my life,

Sunny

P. S. No fair saying your fave is sinking the match-winning ball. Duh!

(P. P. S. In candor, my executing the-shot-of-my-dreams occurs ever so rarely. Most often, I’m the pitiable one on the table.)

I like the money balls they give me and I don't have to shoot. What does that say about me?:o

I really enjoy banking. Probably my favorite bank shot is hitting a 3 rail bank into the side using the long rail. It's a bank that a lot of people miss or don't even think of trying and while it's not really a high percentage shot, it looks really smooth when you drain it (assuming you called it) :).

When I'm playing, my favorite shots are the ones that go in the pocket. They are, unfortunately, few and far between.

Executing a carom that nobody else saw was there! I love the out of the box shots that take people by surprise, but only if they actually benefit me after the shot.

A carom from one corner pocket to the other on the short rail (both balls close to the pocket but no shot on the lowest number ball). Your opponent thinks you're going to have to go safe. Wind goes out of their sails when you drop the carom and they're still in the chair.

My all-time favorite pool shot is the one where the object ball goes in to the pocket.

Aw, crap. Scott got to it before I did. That's what I get for not reading posts. :)

Am I missing something here? Glad you separated these statements. I would say any good safety is a favorite.

What Tramp & Cdryden said: :p

A banked carom for perfect position is handy!(esp in 1 pocket). They are nice when they go in !!

Good to see you have an interest in the strategy of the game Blondie! Surely when I opened this thread, I thought I would see some relative blather toward a secondary thought that MAY have some distant connection to pool. I misjudged

Speaking of "misjudge," How do you "misplace" a boyfriend ??:rotflmao:

Inside english to make the CB come off the rail opposite of the natural direction or deaden the CB roll.

Once I learned the shot it really opened up the position possibilities.

The break shot because it usually means I won the game before.

Lol

At my pool room, at some point during my practice session, wait, I know what I will do... I'll make a video and post it on youtube and provide a link in this thread.

Nice thread Misses!

Mine will be when its time to hit a spin shot, i think it is amazing when you can hit the qball very easy and then that spin catches the rail and then bam watch that qball explode!

The impossible scratch never fails to thrill me. That would be the scratch that would be so un-imaginable that it is not even considered. This shot haunts me but at the same time.......haunts me.:p

1. Super bendy draw (in German: fantastischenflexiblenrückschlag)

Extreme draw makes the cue ball's path take a visible dip, and it's extra cute
if you can get it to bend after hitting a rail (see Corey's famous stroke shot on youtube).

2. Super monkey draw (in German: fantastischenafferückschlag)

Not really a draw shot, it's a SPEEINN shot (who remembers that episode of buddy hall
doing chalk-off ads?). Low right, the extreme right spins it violently to the top
of the table when you're otherwise way too straight or even slightly wrong-angled.

I love them because they're crowd pleasers and it feels good to whip out a big old stroke
once in a while. Probably compensating for something.

Pinching a ball off the long rail -rail first, play off the back of a ball to the corner as if to scratch if it were the cb, but instead... make, safe, combo..furniture moving.

Fun shot, pretty makeable.
