Dropping out of TAR and Best of the West.

Its seems that some people had there opinion of me and why I dropped out of these two thing. The truth of why I pulled out of the Best of the West was because I was NEVER in the Best of the west. I was told while I was in LA just to show up and I might be able to play If the alternates didn't show up. That was ok with me I had no problem that and made other plans before he decided to put my name on the flyer.
The TAR match with Bartrum. Wow only if you knew. I noticed things weren't going well before for the match and they fell apart big time an hour before. 3500 got stolen from our room while we I was at the poolhall. The people I was with check into the room, put the bags into the room and came back an got me. Woke up the next day and the money was gone. They tested the door and only two times that the door had been opened was by my partner (at the time) and his bother with the only two keys. This started to get FISHY when all my shit was searched and hour before I had to play. Then I was told they were backing out of the set. My mind was out if it. But that is what happened. Making me look bad was the only thing that happened those two days. I will play chris soon with people AROUND me that I can trust. Next time don't jump to conclusions.

Mike and his running mates are youngters, and it takes a little while to get it figured out. They seem like good guys.

Life as a poolplayer is a tough one. I know first hand. I have myself paid an entry fee to: Turning Stone, Glass City Open, Viking Year End Nationals, and others in the past (even having plane tickets in hand), then had to withdraw for one reason or another (usually the bottom line, finances).

Today, I have a plane ticket on my wall to the US Open this year, but still have not sent in my entry fee. Anybody looking for a pony? (LOL!). The only time I played in that tournament, I got 17th. Knocked SVB out of it too :grin-square: .

I remember you, Mike, running around up there in New England on the Joss tournament trail. I have always admired your enthusiasm for pool. :wave3:

Nobody can play well with negative baggage in one's mind. One thing Jimmy Reid always said -- and it is true -- is that in order to be the BEST that you can be, you must surround yourself with positive energy and positive people. It is difficult to keep your mind on the task at hand when there's so much else going on around you. :speechless:

You stepped up to the plate and put on a show for all to enjoy. Keep on being yourself and play like there's no tomorrow. Some of the readers of this forum will never accomplish what you have to date. They can only sit at a computer and read about it on a pool forum. Enjoy the ride while you're climbing to the top, Kid! :)

Thanks for posting Mike. I hope somehow that good things will come from a less than ideal go 'round this weekend.

GL, keep rolling, and try to keep posting,

Matt

Thanks for posting Mike. It took a lot to out your friends - or ex friends as they might now be.

I was impressed with your play and the ease you make balls. I am sure you are comfortable playing fast but if you look before you leap, you might play even better.

Chris Bartrum showed a lot of class as well continuing with the match at a reduced rate. Mentally, the entire situation was more difficult on you but the delay and reduction could have effected Chris as well.

Thank you guys, I hope something happens to these people. If Things are what I think they are these people will always be looking over there shoulder. And if they aren't its all good.

you comin to jville sir?

I said something wrong and was confused about a match Chad cleared things up, I'm on the phone with Big Chad, he is telling me what happend, and he is correct for sure. my assuptions on what happened we mistaken, I am 100% wrong and stand corrected. I was mixed up on who I spoke too
Chad is a great guy for sure.

p.s. I'm not going to comment any more.

I am going to say two things about the money situation this weekend.

1. I would bet my life on Adam Behnke's word.

2. I know what the Behnke family did for Mike Dechaine and for him to come here and make aspersions against members of that family shows a lack of character that I hope will be remedied by time and experience. That family went far out of their way to help a kid that they liked.

The whole Mike/Chris match was a mess that TAR will never be a part of again. Our procedures have changed as a result of it, there are certain parties that we will not work with again, we will tighten it up and make the matches much more restrictive as far as deadlines and stipulations. It will mean that we do less matches, maybe a lot less, but I can't stand the thought of ever going through the BS that has came about because of this weekend again. I would rather dig ditches.

We want to thank everyone who supported us by buying the the PPV and watching the free stream and apologize for any confusion or trouble this weekends misadventures caused. Anyone who paid for the match and was unhappy or dissatisfied and would like a refund please contact me at justin@theactionreport.com and I will refund your purchase.

I hope that any issues between parties this weekend can be resolved in private. A public airing of concerns does no good for anyone and will result in nothing positive.

Sorry for all concerned that things aren't runniung smoothly right now.

Please keep private things private and make doing no harm your first priority.

One other aspect Justin is from the railbirds position. I mean the railbird who is involved in action. After all this is the ACTION REPORT. Because of the deviation I think it affected the outcome of the game. I tuned in an saw that the match had already started and it was on a different agreement. I wish I had the time to call off all my bets on the table. This is my fault for not making that stipulation. In the future I too am going to have to make new rules. And that any deviation at all kills the bet.

Now I dont want my money back, but as someone who has bought all the recent TAR PPV's am a little peeved that it went to a free stream. Like buying a ticket to a concert and found out that most of the people got in free. Im just expressing my emotional feeling. I have lot of faith in the great work you and Chad are doing along with the support of guys like Ken Schumann, Tanner, Spider, Adam, etc. And hope that experiences like this will just drive you to better things.

Yobagua,
I feel the same way. I would never ask for the Chris/Mike ppv money back, but I have purchased every PPV from day one even though I only get to watch a small portion because of work. It really ticked me off to see all the freeloaders that never buy the ppv's clamor over to the free feed of the match that a lot of people paid for.

Thanks for your words of support we appreciate them. This was just an occasion where everything that could go wrong did. In hindsight we probably should have just canceled the whole match and took the hit.

We learn something new with each event and this one taught us some things that we thought we had figured out already. One thing that continues to amaze us is the level of support from people like yourself and all of the supporters of The Action Report who understand that we are going to screw up now and then. We will use these lessons going forward to make a better product.

I guess like the old saying goes "Live and Learn",life is full of lessons and learning, its neverending,I learn something new everytime I do a stream. Its been a year into this with TAR so its all still fairly new, this mistake wont happen again as they said and I personally look forward to their next production and event, its top notch and not easy what these guys are doing. If they stopped tomorrow think of what you guys would be missing out on,life before TAR sucked for us pool junkies, reruns on ESPN can be torture!

I understand completely.

The reason we went to the free stream was because emotions were running high, we failed to deliver what we said we would and had canceled the match. We had full intentions of refunding everyone who bought the match which at that time was less than 40 people and just accepting the fact that we were taking one on the chin. After the $5K set was made on the fly we figured we might as well run it free and and try to get some promotion for Kirkwood/Schmidt so the weekend would not be a total wash. The intention was to refund everything when we decided to do the stream for free.

It was after the match started that many people told us to keep the money and we changed to the position of asking people to contact us for refunds. I still am not sure what the right call is. We just did what we thought was best at the time. It was pretty nutty in that pool room that day with everyone all jacked up on emotion about all kinds of things.

We understand that there is a very small, very dedicated group of supporters that make what we do possible. The last thing we want to do is drive any of them away. We are open to whatever a customer wants to be satisfied.
