Galveston info from Diamond

Yes I will travel if it's going to go down. how will they rank players that don't shoot apa.

I think we are still waiting for a definitive ruling on rankings. I have heard mention of one "master" per team, but APA doesn't rank that way.

Good question. Have you checked the website lately? I know there have been updates to it.

Hey, I just read what Greg wrote and took it at face value. Diamond wants its deposit today, and if it's paid the tournament is obviously a go. I'm just waiting, like a lot of people I suspect, before I spend my money to enter a couple of events, make nonrefundable plane reservations, etc....

Hmmm, 45 days have elapsed since the original post. No deposit has been made since no update has been provided. I guess this tournament is a bust....

I am in this boat.....this is where I can finalize time off work and start begging the wife.....or just write it off....

Bumpidy for a hopefully positive result....

Table deposit

I called Ed Hagan of Diamond Sports Marketing and asked the status of the deposit. He told me he was out of town and would be back tomorrow and check his mail and would call me. He feels confident the check will arrive on time so you will get another update from me tomorrow...Greg

Calling it a bust at this point may be a bit premature.

You are probably right. There are still 3 more months before the event but they have to start things rolling.....

I visited the website. It is my opinion that more detailed info is needed such as number of max players per event, entry fees per event, instead of having to search through the webpage.....

Update on Table deposit

Just got off the phone with Bobby with the Galveston Event and he assured me the check was sent late last Friday which means we should get it hopefully by tomorrow....Greg ...will update when we have it in hand.

Greg, forget about when you get it -- update us when it clears :-)

Harold...I agree completely. What I'd like to see is the scheduled payouts for each event (based on X entries). All the promoters have done is say that 1st Place is guaranteed to be X$$$.

due date, not drop dead deadline

Table money arrive?

I read the first as a "due date" not a drop dead "deadline" that must be met to the day or Diamond would not furnish tables. Never-the-less, big promises and missed due dates are all to familiar in the pool world. I can't see why any well financed operation wouldn't have paid at least a week or two early to instill a little confidence. Bad business to pay months early but with current interest rates it doesn't make sense to wait until the last possible moment to make a payment.

I don't think there is a stink in the air but there is a whiff of something that might mean that things aren't what they are claimed to be. When I owed money for my business dealings I paid it on time with enough cushion that if the mail was a day or two late my payments were on time with a little cushion anyway. Of course there was a time or two when I was robbing Peter to pay Paul and then I stretched things until the last possible instant. . . . . .

The other thing that seems odd is that if a check that size was indeed sent on Friday, why wasn't it overnighted with a tracking number?

great news

Very happy to announce the deposit is in and it's a definite go for Diamond. Hope everyone will support the event. Pool needs it. Greg

Excellent!!! Now everyone can stop speculating and thinking they know everything.

This event is going to be great imo.

Thanks Greg.
