Didn't work. :o

However, the time has come that the horse is ready to leave the barn and run. After deliberations, it was decided that the long-awaited and prestigious Derby held each year in January may not have been the right venue for his return to the racetrack. For too many years, this thoroughbred was racing hell for leather at a lot of different track configurations.

A year-long-plus retreat was imperative in order for him to continue his racing career, which would allow the harmful substances, like Lasex, to get out of his system. If he had not taken time off, he most likely would have fallen over dead in the middle of a race. It was just plain ol' good horse sense to work on getting healthy as opposed to riding roughshod over someone, something the track rats may never understand.

In sum, don't underestimate this thoroughbred from California. Just like Seabiscuit running at Del Mar after his hiatus, the Earthquake will be back in full force, raring to go, and you heard it right here from the horse's mouth! :D

am not sure why am not in it or should i say why i wasnt invited! its dissapointing when you see lot of names on list, but thats life, after try and qualify again:mad:

for how they pick the invites is a real head scratcher!! when you think theres no efren, busta, paga, yang, gomez,

must try harder!:)
Daz, it is quite simple why they failed to invite you. You see they have heard the legends of the throngs of women that follow you wherever you go. Quite simply they were afraid to invite a hot sexy man beast such as yourself because you just might break the hearts of all the local women.

We in America are not scared however, so we look forward to seeing you in May pal.

Just read the front-page news on AzBilliards Main Page, and it looks as if Ronnie Wiseman, Corey Deuel, and Shane Van Boening are the three American players in the 8-ball tournaments in UAE.

There is quite a player roster here:

Dennis ORCOLLO Philippines
Hung Hsiang Wang Chinese Taipei
Chia Ching WU Chinese Taipei
Satoshi KAWABATA Japan
Aoyuki OL Japan
Farhad SHAHVERDI Iran

Jianbo FU China
Haitao LIU China
Siu Wai Au Hong Kong
Sayeem HOSSAIN Bangladesh
Shane VAN BOENING United States America
Corey DEUEL United States America
Ronnie WISEMAN United States America
Francis Crevier Canada

Kasper Kristoffersen Denmark
Karl HANSCHO Austria
Aristides DAMOYLAKIS Greece
Bruno Muratore Italy
Ralf SOUQUET Germany

Daryl PEACH England
Carlos TALAVERA Guatemala
Matt EDWARDS New Zealand
Amine OUAHBI Morocco
Mohammed EL ASSAL Egypt
Viac ZYBNEK South Africa

I have heard of some of the players, but there are quite a few whose names I am not familiar with.

Only one member from England, which is Daryl Peach, of course, since he is the current WPC champion.

Philippines has four representatives. I have never heard of the Elvis Calasang player before from Philippines. Does anybody have the rundown on him?

At any rate, it looks like a well-rounded field. I am tickled pink to see Ronnie Wiseman's name on the roster.

Doug Gordon, you better take some pictures for inquiring minds back home.:D

So, do you see a favorite in this player roster or maybe a dark horse of this event? USA, all the way, as they say! :p

JAM

Since when did Ronnie Wiseman, a Canadian citizen, become a United States of America representative?

I have seen this happen a couple times. When did Ronnie become a US citizen?

Im surprised that Efren being one of the great all time 8 ball champion isnt on this list. Hasnt he won the title a couple of times and come out on top money winner at the IPT.

This event has nothing to do with the IPT. This is a WPA/WPA Sanctioned event. I believe last's years Champion returns to defend his title, but I do not believe other past champions get an invite. I believe they have to earn it again.

Of course this has nothing to do with the IPT! But having a main 8 ball event like this and not inviting Efren Reyes is a joke. What does Efren have to earn? Its like having a Major golf tournament and not inviting Tiger Woods. You know it. And every one else does. If there are rules. They can make exceptions for greatness. What next? A world one pocket championship and not invite Efren or a World Rotation event and not invite Efren? Cheez!

Hey, I'm just helping you "comprehend" that this is not a hand-picked tournament. If I was the "head honcho" of this event, Efren, and many others would have to "qualify" and earn their spot in the Tournament, just like any Tom, Dick and Harry.

I would rather have "unknowns" of the World since how else would they get exposure or opportunities?

See post number 14 in this thread for my plans:)

Since then she's said "do whatever you like, you usually do" so as you know that cud mean anything coming from a Halifax bird:p

Might have to drive back down to Abu Dhabi from Ras Al Khaimah on the 12th evening after the golf tourney then come back up to Fujairah on the 13th or 14th. One way or another will get there at some stage of the qualifiers definitely and might even be persuaded to dig out the contact lenses and borrow a cue for a laugh, if I can remember what a table looks like. May have to fill a Masafi water bottle with a light refreshment as I guess that the qualifying venue itself is dry:)

Who else you expecting to drag along?

Given the other players who have received wildcards, I would guess that he was offered a position and decided not to go. Efren finished tied for 9th last year and won $2000. First was $25,000.

Would speculate that it's not entirely beyond the realms of possibility that there are some names not yet set in stone (even the list JAM posted only has 49 names) and that a late amended wild card or two might yet arise. Unless there are any last minute changes to plans there will only be 8 qualifier tourney places played for locally in the run up to the event.

Hey! yourself. Youre not helping me comprehend the incomprehensible. You are not the "head honcho". Im not interested in seeing any "Tom, Dick, and Harry". If the head honcho does have wild cards to give out I'm just asking the simple question, why is Efren not there? So dont get your pants in such a bunch up.
If it wasnt for Mark Griffin I would not be going to Vegas this year. I want to support him for all the good work he does. I dont think I will be buying any tickets to the 8 ball event unless Ronnie or Dennis gets in the finals. I really am going for the TAR events.
