He probably has more friends than anyone else in pooldom!
Jay,
There are so many good people here on AZB. You're one of the very best, most liked and admired members here! And no, that's not a prelude to any "bite"! I mean this from my heart....you're one of the nicest guys in pooldom! It's impossible to keep track of all the kind things you've done to help out your brother (and sister) players over the years!
Happy Birthday, Jaybird! Looking forward to many more expertly-commentated matches from you, and hope to bump into you one day. I promise you a great One Pocket game or three!
Happy birthday, Jay. I hope there are many more to come, and may you be remembered until the last of us passes, at which time we shall all be together again.
Damn, the second half of that sounded like a eulogy. Sorry, buddy.
I just got on the computer after watching Mark Tadd lose 13-12 to Kim Davenport at the 1992 bicycle club tourney Jay was directing, except for this match he was in the booth with Billy Incardona. Great job Jay and you picked the winner from the start but how come I never heard of Jose Del Riccario (he was beating Varner on the next table) from the Phillipines again ? Anyway happy B-day and may many more come your way Jay.--Leonard
WOW!! What a nice surprise to come home and find all this on my computer. I wish we all lived closer together and could hang out, have fun and play pool, naturally. Seems like every time I meet someone from AZ I'm in the middle of working a tournament. So there isn't much time to do anything except gab a little. I really do enjoy the time I spend on here with you, even if sometimes the subject matter can make us all a little uncomfortable.
I was at my mother's (she'll be 90 in two weeks) house all day with a few of my family having a nice afternoon relaxing by the channel in Marina del Rey, watching the boats come in. While L.A. swelters, the Marina is nice and cool, maybe 75 all day. Had my favorite, white fish, and then some delicious chocolate cake. YUM!!
Happy birthday, Jay. To celebrate, can I take you to Spearmint Rhino? I told all the gals there that I knew this guy who just turned 39 and he happens to be a big-time author, tournament director, big action man and all-round sweet-strokin' pool playing stud. Those girls were tingling with excitment when I told them you were coming to visit.
So what time should I pick you up? Oh, and don't forget the toupee.
