Happy Trails to Tony Chohan...

PM sent Jay.

Got it, but I don't have the information they ask for, like the county where he's incarcerated, his inmate number and his correct name. I tried plugging in "Tony (and Anthony) Chohan" and it came back "no records" of this person.

His name is Targit Chohan. It pulled right up for me when I entered his last name in, GL.

Why two completely different addresses? One in Orient, OH and one in Lancaster, OH. Does anyone know which is his correct address to receive mail?

I have know idea where Orient, oh information is coming from. If you go to the link I provided it clearly says Lancaster.

Take care

Every inmate in Ohio goes to Orient first to be processed in the system they are there for about a month, then they are transfered to there final institution.

Happy Trails to you Jam :(

I will continue to update the http://www.MikeSurber.com website with new information as it occurs.

It is not possible to engage in pool-related colloquy on this forum without getting slammed by somebody you don't even know. It takes a lot of balls to come on a forum, not knowing who the person is.

Sort of reminds me of a couple other people I know, but I won't get involved in that.

As far as AzBilliards goes, as you can see, it is not worth it. Keith is right, once again. Believe it or not, he's standing right here, watching me write this as I'm crying tears.

Thanks for the good memories, AzBilliards, but it's now time for me to move on. This forum climate has changed over the years, most likely growing pains and forum culture in general, but there's not enough pool-related content here that interests me anymore.

I've tried to contribute as much as I can to make this forum a better place, and for what?!

Jam,

I have enjoyed your contributions for as long as I have been reading this forum. You have incredible insights, and a warm heart. I especially enjoy the human interest stories that you share along with Jay, and The Beard with regard to tales from the years gone by.

Leave for a while if you must, but please do not, for one second, believe that these negative posters represent even the slightest concensus on the mood of the readers, or posters on this forum. While nobody hits all of their posts out of the park, the great Smorg notwithstanding, your hit to miss ratio is among the highest batting averages among this lineup.

A strong opinion in this forum usually results in a strong, and sometimes nasty response. There was little doubt in my mind that you were going to get the neg response from the neg crowd, as a result of your rather benign post, not because of your comments, but because of the subject matter and the calice nature of the neg crowd. It's much like asking the Yankees fans to cheer the visiting Mets, or asking Cameron Crazies not to ridicule the visiting Tar Heels, or finally it is like the proverbial scorpion stinging the gullible duckling at his own peril; it's just their nature. They can't help it, and apparently they have not learned the nature or value of self respect or respect for someone with whom they disagree. So it ain't your fault, but I understand. If you never post again, it is truly our loss.

Godspeed Jam!!

Everything he said. I would have liked to have been able to put all that into words, but I have the mental capacity of a crippled squirrel.

I got a letter from Tony today. I had written to him a couple of weeks ago. He thanked me for writing and he said that it's the only letter he's gotten from anyone in the pool world. He told me how much receiving even one letter brightens his day. He knows he will be "down" for a long time and he would very much like to stay in touch with the pool world.

I am having copies of Billiards Digest sent to him each month, but if someone would like to subscribe to another publication for him, I'm sure he would appreciate that.

His address is:
Tarjit Chohan 619-088
5900 B.I.S. Road

Lancaster, OH 43130

I also wrote a letter to Tony and received one back. As you know 7 years is a long, long, haul and when you folks out there get a chance please drop Tony a letter and I am sure he will write you back.

I mentioned to him to see if he could get transfered to CA for this state is going to let out about 40K prisoners out if you were not involved in a violent crime or are a sex offender.

Will prisons let you transfer to another state, or can you only be transfered within the state? Sometimes prisons will let you transfer so your parents can visit you, does anyone know where Tony's parents live? I also mentioned to him in the letter to stay away from the LA County prisons in CA.

I also mailed Tony an article from OnePocket.org but I am not sure if prisons will allow him to have photo copied articles that are in color. Does anyone know?

Drop him a line when you all get a chance ... He has been in jail for little over one month and has 83 months to go.

It gladdens my heart to see that people who know him are corresponding with him. A strong connection to the outside will help when his time is done and he's out.

Thanks Ron. His family lives in the Sacramento area. He has been in for two months now, with a lonnng way to go. No end in sight at this point.

The states do allow for interstate transfers. See

http://www.interstatecompact.org/

However there needs to be a good reason for such a transfer.

Hope that helps

Well, Ohio's broke and the gov is begging the feds for money to bailout the states, so maybe the economy will force it? If California gets their's first (and I imagine they will), then maybe Tony has a chance if Ohio's down on the state welfare list?

Yet, the governor is running for re-election this year and his running mate is a prison worker as he once was, so I'm thinking the last thing to be cut will be the prison industrial complex. Isn't that about the last business left in Ohio? But who knows....the political winds are blowing strongly towards nullification of federal pot laws and gun laws, for example, so maybe more "criminals" with no victims* will be let out as the only logical and moral choice to keep the real crooks** locked up?

Good luck, Tony.
