Ok how many of you pool addicts are going to play pool on christmas.

We have a bar in town that there are no locks on the front door 24/7 for the last 18 years.

I used to work at a pool room like that. The keyhole was also the peephole.

Spent many a new year's and xmas there and rarely alone. (Sometimes there was even a girl!:embarrassed2:)

Im working Christmas day, late. So I'll probably be there with all of the other regulars. Just like thanksgiving

Beechmont Billiards in cincy Ohio was like that. Went there one year when I didn't have anyone to celebrate Xmas with one year :(

Xmas night was always a great pool room visit. Everyone had their Xmas money! I remember I beat one guy and he paid me with a Xmas check from his grandma. Ah, those were the days, lol.

I'll play some at home for sure, but seeing my kids, wife and family enjoy the magic of Christmas trumps pool or anything else for that matter any day.

NO LOCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to steal the bottled water :outtahere:

I am opening Sharky's at 4:00. We will show "The Hustler," then "The Color of Money," followed by "Poolhall Junkies." These are on the big screen. With a race to 5 tourney.

I will be playing on Christmas. It's a tradition that started at the room I grew up in. A little 4 table room named simply Bob's Pool Room. It was located on our town's main street just below the jail and adjacent to the court house and county library.

Bob's was a gathering place on Christmas day for many years. All the local players would come by to play as Bob would open the room with free table time. Bob's wife would make party mix and have a table set up with sandwiches and chips and there would be a cooler full of sodas. Some of the older guys would bring a covered dish they or their wives cooked.

The back table was reserved for playing Keno and the "Christmas Green" was seen stacked up 4 or 5 inches high along side the rails as players awaited their turn in the rotation.

I have fond memories of that room and have often thought of setting those stories to pen and paper and see if it would fly as a novel. I doubt there's a market for that, though I probably should do it just so I don't forget.

Got a new cue and case under the tree, you know I'll hit some balls on Xmas
But I'll be hitting them in my dining/poolroom

hopefully alot of players will have some new gear from under the tree that must be properly checked out.

Dr9, that sounds like a fun Christmas Day. What town is it?
Do you still live there or are you visiting family during Christmas.

Take some pics.

I think thats an good idea Mike, if you are going out Christmas or Boxing Day, everyone should take a camera along. We can see some of our fellow members.

I'll take my camera on Boxing Day. Maybe if we try hard enuff, some of us can get some nice Tata pics.

I expect I'll be at the pool hall at some point in the evening, as in years past.
I think one of them will be holding a party and possibly having the employees dress up.

During the 60's, every Pool Room that was a Real pool room would be closed xmas day and open by dinner time no later than 6pm.. Many of those old school pool rooms had players with no where else to go, and like another mentioned, there was always the xma$$$$$$$ dollars floatin' around.
