The tournament probably has not started yet, but hopefully someone will be kind enough to provide us with updates. Jay will be too busy, but I'm sure some L.A. AZ'er with a laptop could send us tidbits...

Update 1: The room is open and practice tables are available.
The people that are there practicing are eyeing up the potential competition and conversations have been heard that go like the follwoing:
Person 1: Hey You playing Tonight?
Person 2: Yeah...I am thinking about donating....You?
Person 1: Yeah...I am going to give it a shot.
Overheard from players on the next table.
Player 1: Dude....that was MY pocket.
Player 2: What?...What do you mean your pocket?
Player 1: Dude...once you pick a pocket at the beginnig of the game you have to stay with that pocket for the whole game...you can't switch.
Player 2: Oh...Damn...Man..this is a stupid game...lets go surfing.
and from accross the room..
Person 1: Hey is that Tang Hoa that just walked in???
Person 2: No...that is Billy Palmer.
Person 1: Oh...they kind of look the same don't they???
Person 2: Uh.....NO....They Don't
Person 1: Oh...Ok...Your break dude.
Person 2: I don't want to play with you any more....
I am not really there .....but I am guessing that is a farily accurate update of what is going on....so far.

Lots of action as guys coming back from the WSOP in Vegas are carrying some change with them.
Mike Deschane and Adam Behnke are in the house.
Mike is playing Ernesto D. race to 12 ahead, 10 ball.
Sylver is now engaged in some Action with Jose.

A great venue with some of the best food in all of pooldom.
Tomorrow Scott Frost comes in as well as One Pocket Rich and a bunch of out of towners.

I wanted to add that the tournament is done in a very classy way by our own Jay Helfert. Very neat and accessible with no problems. Jay is an asset to the game. Nice to see a tournament run so seamlessly.
Just talked with Justin of TAR and he will be coming out next week for the battle at Hard Times.

In the $30 Mini, Jose won $480 and Sylver got $240 for second. Rafael and Josh got $120 each for 3-4th. 5-8th paid $60 a piece.
Ernesto and Mike D. are only playing for $12,000! (6K each). That's a friendly little 500 a game Ten Ball. Jose and Sylver are playing even One Pocket for 200 a game.
And I'm resting up for the weekend. It will be a long one.
Mike and Ernesto were even at 10 PM when I left.

Thanks for the updates guys. All of us on here really appreciate it. As a side note, does anyone have video of Mike Dechaine playing? I keep hearing this kid is a monster and i have yet to see him play. Thanks again guys. Rep to ya.
I don't know about any video, but I was very impressed with his demeanor and level of play.

just got off the phone with the sleeve he and mike are on their way to the room mike and ernesto are on break till tomorrow night mike is up 6 games! mike says there will be video of him soon enough! lol the kid has a great attitude and is a natural charector! off till then nasty

I chatted with the guy a little. I also shared a bus with him in Louisville. He says he doesnt play one pocket. But this guy plays 10 ball like he loves the game. He has no fear when it comes to getting down. Very matured for his 20 something age.

The Main Event starts today at Noon. It's the $75 entry fee, $2,500 Added One Pocket tourney. Longer Races (to Three), Double Elimination. I don't know how big a field we will have. But I expect today and tomorrow to be long days at Hollywood Billiards. Yesterday was just a "warm-up".
P.S. I talked to Jeff, the owner last night about creating a video feed from here on one table. He says it's possible, so we may be able to do that for future events.

The tables play tight and Ernesto is a great player. I balls don't rack as good as I want them to, but it will have to do. Hopefully it will end tonight either way.
