Helfert Hollywood 1P updates?

First paid $1600. I think Jay will post the pay out.

Scott is down a bunch and they continue to play tonite. I myself taking a break and getting back to my poker game. You know how fickle the poker gods are.

The tournament was one of the finest one pocket tournament I have been too. Access to viewing, parking, food, service was great. The service staff were very accomadating, the women servers were "fine" and engaging. The bartenders and helpers were very patient. That put the fans and players in a good mood. Scott Frost can be a real gentleman if he wants to be. Sylver and his buddy Jesse were very open and friendly. Sylver made a lot of fans here in LA. Woofing and Barking led by RA was kept to a minimum. As the regulars pool hall policed the joint and made sure he was in good stock of suds.
Except for some side action that got a little sticky, which was put down immediately, it was good camaraderie that pervade the house. Made some new friends and strengthened the ties with old ones. I hope they have it again next year.

Here you go with the pay outs:

1. SCOTT "The Freezer" FROST $1,600.00
2. Sylver "The Gentleman" Ochoa $900.00
3. Jose "Amang" Parica $600.00
4. "One Pocket" Rich Grenier $440
5-6. Rafael "The Marksman" Martinez & Wayne "The Brain" Pullen $320
7-8. "Filipino" Danny Petralba & "Tall" Phil Misson $220
9-12. John "The Old Man" Henderson, "Arizona" Gus Briseno, "Big" Jim Lewis &
Greg "The Hat" Rosenheck $120

All and all a great event with lost of good play and many exciting matches. The fans loved it! We're sure to have more One Pocket in the future at Hollywood Billiards.

Great action too! Ernesto and Mike D. are still trying to decide who's best after three days. Sylver and Scott are locked in a struggle for five bones a game. jrhendy (The Old Man) and Tall Phil have been battling for hours at a hundred a game. And there are a couple of $50 games going too.

And I just finished a session in the steam room. Put some Ben Gay on my cheat and making Green Tea with honey and lemon now. I don't like being sick! :(

Damn, Jay. Everyone on your list has a nickname! I need to come out and play in one of your tournaments (and cash) (as long as you don't name me "the d!ckhead").

i'm proud to call Oscar and Ernesto very good friends , i think the world of them, i would give up everything I own to be in Oscars shoes-i miss my dad, they are an amazing team and have my highest respect.

I booked a winner, the ernesto/mikes game went on for about 3 hours and it was even, thye couldnt resolve what ever they tried to resolve so the bet came down and its over. which i predicted earilier in this thread 2 times(after they fineshed both nights).

I watched the first night and it was a great match and so close thats why my earily gut feeling was 12 ahead was to many games, when your playing 12 ahead your trying to prove something, 9 or 10 ahead makes more gambling sence, they might have played 2 sets like that, i bet they damn near completed a race to 100,

WHICH makes me think this could perhaps be a TAR match. Its definatally a even game. Shame this one wasnt recorded.

Both plyers showed ALOT of heart, shame to see it not end but they are both instroke for Cory's tournment next week, perhaps we'll se a rematch if they both play in it,

Man Ernest is tough, he was way down on day one, he looked tired and I knew he would bounce back the next session, he never ever lets up, he has heart like Alex(yup Alex, is what I said) Mike showed a ton of heart too, I cant congrat anyone for winning but i will congrat them both for one hell of a match, pool aint dead and with people like them we awalys have out sport. I'm just glad the match happened, perhaps it will stir up more games, or get more people into action.

i'm gonna do my best to stir up something next weekend at Hardtimes.

Someone asked if I could post a photo of the brackets. I only had a minute and the desk man held it up and I snapped a flash picture. It isn't perfect but I think if you click on this link, then when it fills your browser, put your mouse on the pic and click, it should enlarge to full size. A few matches at the bottom may not be legible, but most of it's there....best I could do.

The best Father-Son team i've seen since Steve Mizerak Sr. and Steve Jr. The older Miz was the New Jersey State Champ a couple of times.
Interesting...thanks for putting that nugget out there for us!

When a match ended, I moved the winner's name over and put the score of the match under his name. Got it?

The finals was a single Race To Four.

Hey Eric, my brother is just getting back from Cuba and we'll be at Hardtimes next weekend, you might be able to talk us into playing someone some scotch doubles ten or twelve ball. I'm selling my mustang this week and will have some extra cash.

I most likely will be there, I havent played in 6 weeks because my back has been so bad, its ok now so i'm gonna play this week and see how i'm playing. If I dont play I will still be able to find someone to replace me so we can make a game somehow-for sure. thx

Scott LOVED the Tiger Cue! He took it out and hit balls with it last night. I think he gave it to his backer, Anatoly, who also loved the cue. You made two guys happy! Please post a photo of these cues you are giving us for each Hollywood Billiards event. I bought one for myself in Vegas in May. Pretty nice hitting cue IMO.
