This is the very FIRST, U.S. OPen 10 Ball Championship, correct?

Mark Griffin LOVES POOL!

anyone know what happen to the Predator ten ball event that is usually held at this time? Did they just rename it?

Yes - and I am glad that Mark organized this and put it together before the US Open 9 Ball decided to change their format. Maybe that would have never happened but I think it is appropriate that Mark, who has lead pool into many of it's next steps, has this tournament name under his resume as well.

I wonder if this means that the Dragon Promotion 'invited open' event won't be taking place in Vegas this year as well.

Good idea, I think the execution will be flawless considering who is involved. I hope it does not replace the US Open 9-Ball though, that's just the greatest tourney to me. I do think there is room for the 10-Ball and I hope it gets a full field. Are they charging $600 to play as well?

US Open 10-Ball

The reason we announced this so early is to be able to REALLY promote it.
We have had the US TradeMark on the name for several years but are finally ready to go forward with it. Our contract with Dragon Promotions expired in 2009 and we needed to make this a part of several future planned events. This is the first step.

Please notice that the top 2 NCS National (9-ball & 10-Ball) finishers will get a paid spot in this event - and other events will be able to do the same! We will be expecting a large - well qualified field.

This will be at LEAST $25,000 added! There will be more info coming in next few months. Please remember that in 2008 (after the non payment of the UPA Desert Shootout) I said I would start doing 'some things' to unite the amateur and pro players. Well - it took longer than I thought (lots of stumbling blocks).

Also take notice of the new USA Pool League - this is the future of pro pool. This will tie the amateurs and pro players together financially and they will both work to promote the sport and raise it to higher levels - all from WITHIN THE INDUSTRY!!! I can't wait on national sponsors any more! (But we are working on that, too!)

Don't want to say to much for now. Just keep your ears & eyes open. Thanks for the support.

Just one more terrific event being promoted by a great promoter of pro pool! Thanks Mark. The cupboard would be bare without you.

I think this new event is great news - I can't wait to see it in person next year!

Thanks, Wachez. I thought this news was head liner worthy, but it's on the secondary news feed section. Unless, it head lined for a brief time.

When I win a qualifier to this tournament is there going to be a conflict with my BCAPL tourney? I'm just curious if the exact dates are established yet and if there is possibility of playing in Singles, Team, Scotch and this event or not.

I look forward to this event and hopefully it will stay in Vegas during the BCAPL for many years to come.

Tieing the amateurs and the professionals together is a fantastic idea. It is a win-win for everyone, including the fans, sponsors, promoters and of course the players.

Hopefully, the professional players will take your advice and get on board and take an active role in promoting pool.

When the professional players realize that they NEED to be active in a promotional sense, they will begin to see a change in perception by their fan base, all for the better.

Mark, first let me say it was a pleasure to meet you in Vegas. I am a very good judge of character and can tell your sincere and are really looking out for pool and the players. I do believe getting amateurs and pros all tied in is a great step. Sponsors like numbers and there are a ton of players out there who play in leagues and recreationally also. Good luck with what your doing and perhaps some of these big sponsors will get behind you and what your doing. It only takes one big corporate sponsor and pool will be much better off then it is now.
