I paid $2500 southwest cue that is warped !

Seems to be the norm on here, now. Weather it is a $50 jump cue or a $3k SW. People don't understand the whole satisfied customer thing.

One reason I don't deal overseas and recommend escrow for any sales over $750. Rather not take the chance of the wood moving.

Its not the norm (thank god). Its just that when someone buys a cue or case and is happy, they feel no need to hop on here and ask the community to moderate.

However it is too common, but I've got to say, all these guys that wait to discuss what happens if the deal goes sours until AFTER the sour happens are just (in a way) asking for it. This business of doing business ASSUMING the other party thinks like you and then trying to convince them to think like you after the sour, well, that's what threads like this are about.

In this case, the buyer says he asked for escrow, but then proceeded to do business without it and blames a pair of guys for recommending the seller for his decision. Did the buyer ever ask the seller what the process would be if he wasn't happy with what the seller sent him? How can that discussion not be part of the deal?

Sure the seller here is not doing business here the way you or I would or do. However, as a buyer about to send $2500 to a guy he doesn't know, for a cue he hasn't seen. Don't you feel that the buyer should be asking the seller BEFORE he pays the seller in a non-reversible fashion what they are going to do if:

1) the cue doesn't arrive?

2) he doesn't like the cue ?

Get the seller to guarantee you satisfaction, in writing, and then you have a claim when this happens. Assume he is making guarantees and you are risking coming here and asking the community to fix your situation.

Sorry, but shame on both these guys.

Thanks

Kevin

Please forget who is right and get to doing what is right.

Thanks

This statement is as wise as any I've read anywhere. If we all applied it to business, friendship, and marriage, we would all be better for it.

An escrow can be very simple. I handled one for a seller in Singapore and a buyer in Los Angeles some years ago - they just approached me and asked me and I said yes.

The seller sent the cue to me (a Mottey) , the buyer came over to my office and inspected it, went to the bank and did a transfer.

I would not release the cue until the seller acknowledged he had received the payment a day or two later and all was in good order.

Ok let me get this straight...

Justabrake buys a cue that was described as straight..... correct?

Justabrake gets the cue, and discovers the cue has a wobble..... correct?

Why are we worried about the origin of the wobble?

Why should Justabrake offer to forfeit a couple of hundred dollars to get a refund?

I thought I was getting jammed up bad, but this is ridiculous!!

Refund Justabrakes 2500.00...Whats happened to this f'n place?

Exactly. It may even straighten out back in Indonesia.

Simple thing to do, the buyer should take the cue and roll it and post a video or take it to a cue maker and do a lathe video of it. I would not be surprised to see it on a lathe and being straight.

Hi Guys,

Email sent to both Wilson and Steven saying that I'm interested in this cue. Would be happy to help with this situation as this SW is exactly what I'm looking for.

Regards,
Duc.

I'll run it into Astoria today if you promise to take it without hesitation and an examination of it

Seriously I talked to a cue maker and he's going to look at it today or Thursday for sure

The cue will work well with the predate SW that I have available. I have someone very interested in my Predate if it had another shaft with matching collar. Figure I can save a few hundreds on this Southwest and sell my predate. If the SW has a normal roll out that should be fine as I have friend that looking for a player's cue. So would work well for everyone and I get a warped SW for less than $2500.00.

Regards,
Duc.

Cuemaster98 here to save the day! :grin-square:

That is great of you, Duc...looks like everyone will come out OK on the deal.

Why not describe it to a "t", and based on that description get an agreement with duc, in principle, on the price, then bring it into queens and wrap up the deal?

asking someone who may well be providing a solution to your problem to "take it without hesitation and an examination" strikes me as a little ironic.

best,

:eek::embarrassed2::eek::embarrassed2::eek::embarrassed2::eek::embarrassed2:

Forgive yourself man. I didn't see it as a joke either and had the same reaction as yours. So, take heart, you think just like me (as Tate pointed out some posts ago I'm a VERY wise man).

Thanks

Kevin

I've seen SWs that bump on a table and are straight in a lathe and some that wobble in both and, of course, some that are straight in both. A SW wobbling on a table is no proof that it is warped, its something about the parabolic (whatever THAT is) taper. Doesn't mean your cue isn't warped, just that rolling a SW is a poor test.
