If It's True $ Was Held Back From MC

In a couple or three threads started after the Mosconi Cup, a few people made mention of knowing some little secrets.

It seems that most of these secrets were let out in the after hours party bar that everyone
frequented.

And no doubt under the influence of the Devil's water. It was like, hey, I'll tell you something but promise me that under no circumstances will you tell anyone else.

And then onto the next person. If anything that important was let out of the bag, it was
never meant to be a secret in the first place.

And if truly a secret from the top, no one but the few people involved would know about it.

People like to mention in passing that they know something that no one else knows.

Ya know, mercenary Samurais aren't going to pay you a visit and lop off your heads.

Or the Corleones won't leave a horse head in your bed to wake up to.

If one has something to add, say it or keep it to yourself. Pretty simple.

Just by saying that you know a secret but won't tell, you've already blown it by 50 percent.

I guess its just my old biker days that warns me that even if I knew something, you don't let on to anyone that you are in the know. That in itself can get you in a pile of trouble.

Terry - Not losing any sleep over Mosconi Cup Secrets.

Sounds like a great name for a novel: "Mosconi Cup Secrets." :D

That would make him either a Spanokopita or a Baklava.

I make Baklava better than the little old Greek ladies do.

If you make dolmades with lemon sauce, you'd be my hero. I love dolmades with BEEF, homemade, not the ones with the cheap rice. :p

And the Greek chicken livers are my faves!

Well, assuming that players did get fined, my guess as to who would be Boyes (disrespect at the end of his match with Earl), Earl (disrespect in general), Hatch and Morris (repeatedly using foul language which is disrespectful to the game and the viewers).

.

Boyes deserves a medal, not a fine.

I hate to hijack this thread but you just mentioned my favorite thing in the whole world - Baklava. I don't know if that spelling is correct, but there was a place where I grew up in Greensboro called IPD (Irving Park Delicatessen) and they used to have the best baklava in the world.

There were endless layers of flaky layers of pastry and between every layer there was this marvelous goo of pecans, some other forms of nuts (pistachios?), and honey. There was always a single clove on top. Pieces were tiny because it was so rich you could not eat much.

Have never had baklava that good since they quit serving it some thirty years ago or so. Most baklava I have had since then is disgustingly dry and lacking in honey.

If anyone has favorite baklava spots anywhere there are major tournies like Chesapeake, Las Vegas, Louisville, etc, please let me know. I am searching for the bliss of my youth!

Dizzy from reading between the lines !

I wouldn't think that something done on camera would need investigating, hmm...

PS, What else was said, "throw your tomorrows away for today"

Did history repeat itself ?

This is just what jumped out at me from reading between the lines
I wasn't there nor do I claim to have any inside info.
I hope my reading comprehension needs improvement.

I don't think I can send meat across the border but I think pastry might make it.

I usually make Baklava for Christmas. There is never any left to bring back home. After Christmas, I might be able to make a Care package.

Baklava isn't rocket science. Why chince out on the honey and nuts (walnuts)

The trick to working with phyllo dough is that you have to keep it moist once taken out of the package. I use a wet towel. Have all the ingredients ready and once you start, you don't stop until done.

Other than that, pretty basic. With mine, you should be able to feel your teeth start to melt after one piece.

It's often a lost art today, but to make the best pitas (tiropita, spanakopita, kolokithopita, etc) you need to make your own phyllo dough, not use the store bought type. All the Greek grandmothers know how to do this but the current generation is hit or miss.

My mother taught me how to make them from scratch. Unfortunately, I'm out of practice, and also decided to remove wheat from my diet. Maybe one day, however, I'll try to make a pita again.

Or perhaps "Mosconi Cup Secrets they don't want you to know about" and Kevin Trudeau can pitch it on late night info-mercials from cell block D.

Or, in the alternative, will the *real* Corvette please stand up, please stand up, please stand up ---> HERE.

We have a Greek restaurant down the street that makes the bestest baklava AND rice pudding. The rice pudding in particular is wonderful, just like my dad (not GreeK) used to make. Their gyros are good too.

You are exactly right

Matchroom business is just that - Matchroom business and there is no reason for them to disclose commercial information. They are not the Mafia,
Should they consider that certain occurrences (for example the on air swearing) were devaluing their product then they would be within their rights to impose penalties on the offenders.

If they wish to disclose these matters then that is their perogative. But there is no 'public right to know'.

You sir are correct, and The OP always seems to start stupid posts like this. If he wants to know everything go buy a pool business and disclose everything. Otherwise cease your stupid rumors and STFU.

No one promised anyone anything. And you're right, I doubt there would any horse heads under the covers.

But that's not what it's about. It's about knowing when to blab and when not to blab. The penalty for doing so is losing the trust of those that spoke to you in the first place and not being privy to the inside scoop in the future.

None of that precludes a passing mention that changes are afoot and they ain't gonna to make everybody happy.

Well, if money was held back due to the players breaching a code of conduct contract, then good for Matchroom. Its about time someone penalized the players behavior.

If on the other hand money was held back because Matchroom went broke like many other promoters, then that absolutely needs to be out in the open, and is not only "their" business. Its all of our buisness.

I have no information except what I read in this thread, and forming my "guesses" based on what was written in this thread.

MAtchroom going broke is just laughable, that wont be happening any time soon. Pool is such a small part of matchroom, they could drop it and not look back. The players should be happy there is even a Mosconi cup to play for. After this year I wouldnt be surprised if they considered getting rid of it.

I could be way off base, or dead on the money.

As to whether or not the "secret" about it should be made public, I vote yes. I vote yes because then, just maybe, others will take notice and start acting a little more professional. This sport has a bad name already, time to publicly clean it up, or at least show that an effort is being made. Not keep it secret so no one notices.

There was nothing wrong with what Boyes did, it was a hand shake. HE never cursed on camera.

My headquarters used to be a block away from the IPD Eatery on Battleground Ave. I used to eat there a lot, yummy. The other day I was driving down Battleground and noticed... I regret to inform you, it's no longer operating there. :(

There you go again Lou - throwing in another little teaser. It seems that you are unable to help yourself and are conveying that you are one of the 'cognescenti'.

And here I thought "cognescenti" was an expensive pool cue brand. :o

I hate to admit it, but I had to look up the meaning. Thanks for teaching me a new word. :)

AzBilliards really can be an educational forum at times.
