and you could pick a cue from any maker you wanted, but couldn't play with it beforehand, what cue would you pick?

You are going simply on the reputation and your past experience with that brand of cue.

Oh, you don't get to keep the cue.

Anything by Alex Brick ... I have owned a couple dozen and they all played the same ....... GREAT !!!

I don't play for money...but IF? I'd probably want the cue I have spent hours playing with...wouldn't want any unknowns in a situation like that.

The same kind I have played every money match with for the last 45 years: Ginacue.

I've tried some great cues in those years, certainly not all of the greats but many. But Ernie's are the best I've ever played.

Eddie Farris

because whenever he makes something, it with his entire heart and soul. His cues may not be fancy, but they are well put together, and it's something that's going to last a lifetime.

Most of the top players in my town play with a Farris because of this underlying principle. "They're made well and play real good."

I've hit with a good number of cues, and I must say that there are a number of good ones out there. Sugartree is one of the only other ones I'd pick because of the simplicity and playability.

Kerry Zeiler though (Zylr Cues) is another of whom I hadn't tried. His principle ideas behind cue building appeals to me immensely.

I'd pick a Southwest. This is based entirely on the circumstances in the post where I'd have to choose something that I couldn't play with before hand. They're not my number one favorites, but until now, every one I've played with were pretty similar, but most importantly...............................generally easy to 'tame' after just a couple of minutes.

I would want a Sugartree. I love mine, and it sounds like Eric has only gotten better since I got mine. I just don't think cues can get better.

what ever house cue was closest. if you are playing for alot of money and the cue is going to determine whether you win or not, you are in trouble.

I'd want a house cue too

what ever house cue was closest. if you are playing for alot of money and the cue is going to determine whether you win or not, you are in trouble.

Under the terms given I'd pick a quality house cue in good shape every time but for different reasons. The one piece cues are very "honest", you can trust how they are going to play. A lot more variables in custom cues and many cue makers try to be a bit of all things to all people. The result is that their cues don't play consistently.
