I like the thought of locking thread so it can't be bumped. That way the new stuff is new. If you want a specific item the the search function would be recommended. And nice case. John
CaseHow about the political trash that is spewing forth in greater and greater numbers? Hitting new this morning brought up 4-5 LWW posts and others. I almost had to hit the second page to find 'Wanted for sale'. Couldn't the mods make political posts less obnoxious and prevalent?
These are some great ideas and maybe Mr. Wilson will consider them.It seems to me the Wanted/For Sale section here at AZB has gotten out of hand. I frequent another forum (non-billiard related) that had the same issues that are taking place here. They implemented some rules (posted below) that have greatly improved their for sale section.
Again, these are just suggestions that have greatly improved a similar section in another forum. It is obviously up to the mods here to make changes or leave things the way they are.
1. You must have 75 posts to create a new Ad in the Wanted/For Sale Forum or become an AZ Club Member.
2. Must have a sale price. Sellers must combine their Ads and cannot post new Ads unless their previous Ad is Closed or deleted. All For Sale Items must be combined/listed in One Ad.
3. Must have Photos. Small or blurry images in your Ad may cause it to be removed without warning.
4. All WTB posts are locked. Replies should be sent by PM or Email.
5. Members must close your own AD once the item(s) is sold, traded or no longer available.
6. Bumping Rules:
* Posts are sorted by Date of Topic Creation… additional posts will not bump thread to the top
* Sellers must combine their Ads and cannot post new Ads unless their previous Ad is Closed or deleted.
* Repeated improper Re-posting of Ads can warrant suspension of forum rights.
7. No negative comments regarding sellers asking prices.
Bumps should be limited to once per 6 hours.
Questions should be discussed via PM.
Each user should have ONE for sale thread, and ONE want to buy thread.
Pictures should be REQUIRED, plenty of people here can help teach how to post pictures.
As a Buyer, Seller and Supporter of AZBilliards, I am all for mandatory Club Memberships in the Wanted for Sale section (Sellers especially) as well as reasonable Listing/Bumping Fees.
Yeah I don't think its broken and I do think what is lacking in general at AZ is a little common courtesy. I think it ages us too complain too much and harken back to the old days when we had perhaps more community minded spirit, but there is quite a bit of rudeness in all the forums and it does seem to be a trend in the wrong direction. Perhaps that is the price we pay for becoming more popular and less niche.
I don't think its up to the mods to create a rude-proof environment and I don't think its possible and I don't think coming up with blanket rules to curb the behavior of one or two people is the answer. If we are unhappy with Acedonkeyace's (sorry I don't see the point of not naming him?) behavior in the threads isn't up to us as a community ro PM him and give him a chance to be less rude (like Bamacues did) rather than trying to come up with some rules? There's a distinct possibility that he doesn't see his 8 zillion threads about production cues as bothersome and maybe a few of his fellow forum members dropping him a line is all it will take.
Thanks
Kevin
PS: Nice case
Hopefully when he sees everyone is getting a little frustrated he will change up his procedure. But not sure, since his earlier reply didn't seem too concerned with fellow posters.
I sent this to Ace on October 4th.
Man...can u copy and paste all your threads onto one post and just bump that one? You knock everyone down a page everytime you bump all these threads....
Thanks!
his reply was....
This is how the board is set-up, its not my fault.
Talk to the designer.
Mike
I agree the board isn't broken, and we just need to be aware of how we effect everyone else as we try to sell our special pool items for way below market value!![]()
