Is There A Player Who You Consistently Root Against?

Well I think sometimes there is much more entertainment value when certain players are losing than there ever is in watching players winning ,

Rodney Morris (and Raj Hundal). I'll never root for someone that dumped his team and his country just to line his own pocket. Not to mention why he was banned from CSI events.

He dumped his team to line his pockets boy that's a pretty bold statement there and just how do you come to that conclusion

Amor fati....love your fate.
I've struggled to do this most of my life...and I'm better at it than many I've competed with.

Whether I'm betting on myself or someone else, I try to observe impassively.....
....that way, you have a chance to see what is actually happening.....
...fear and greed and anger and negative feelings obscure your view of reality.

I consider it a sign of weakness to hope someone misses or mess up.

Great post. Great words of wisdom.

But Karl Boyes makes it so darn difficult to follow your advice!
:grin-square:

Of course against Orcullo and Strickland. Also that whimpy kid Bergman.
Non-existant sportsmanship, no respect, no manners, no clothing style, no manhood.
Yet, they still are allowed to play. I really like how Snooker players are fined for bad behaviour.

Cheers,
M

Jim Rempe.

He's the only Hall of Fame player that has tried to charge me for an autograph. I have a cue ball with every living Hall of Fame autograph on it, except him. 100 dollars my ass.

I'd sure like to hear the other side of this story. I've know James since the Jansco days, and played em many times in match play over the years. Something else was going on.

TX,

Mike Sigel recently put on a show at our local pool room which happens to be the room he started his career in. We have several photos of Mike on our "Wall of Fame". Took one down of him with his "bent cue" break shot. Asked him to sign it. He asked for $50. When he was done with his show, asked him again. $25 that time. Finally just before he left, asked him again and he signed it for free. Really?

Wonder if he asked the videographer for a fee to allow him to do the video short that was posted on AZ? The same guy wrote an article with photo that ran in our daily newspaper about Mike's history. Some current pro's ask for streaming fees. Oh well. Guess a guy has to do what a guy has to do  .

Charlie Williams, Rodney Morris, Shawn Putnam.....for that whole clique thing they were doing a while ago.

Morris for a few other incidents that have either been reported or alluded to....what Neil has mentioned, as well as that Turning Stone final, what "appeared" to be doing business with Alex. And I guess his attitude in general.

Also, Putnam for the way he acted here on AZB during that time, as well.

CW.....heh heh. No more need be said.

(Somehow I can't include JA in that group-dislike, tho he was in the middle of it all. I cannot give a good reason for that. He is too darned likable, I guess, and I wonder if he was led into some of that political stuff, not knowing where it was heading. Hatch was also in that group for a while, and while I'm not a big fan, I can't group him with the other three, either.)

Orcullo, for many of the same reasons others have expressed.

It is very likely that I'm wrong in some of my assumptions. Even if I am, the attitudes of the above-named players earn them my dislike, or at the least, my rooting against them.

I root against Mika. No one wears their emotions on their face more than him.

I also will root against very slow players who put me to sleep when I am trying to enjoy a stream. And that includes slow rackers.

It's a shame because he's super talented but this whinny stuff has to stop. My favorite was when he once complained about SVB wanting the Magic Rack moved. SVB says leave it and he safes DO and leaves him in the rack...then of coarse DO complains about it wanting to move it.

He's blind to his BS. <--Not really. He's a grown man but it amazes me that Jay H hasn't grabbed him by the ears for a little course correction.

I tend to agree with your last sentence..Strickland, and a few others have the same horrible attitudes!
I think rooting against these people, is a wasted emotion..I prefer to just pull harder for their opponent..Their inbred personality is not going to change..It is an automatic, built-in 'shark'...They all seem to play better, when they are pissing people off!..Why help them? :(

I also will root against very slow players who put me to sleep when I am trying to enjoy a stream. And that includes slow rackers.

Likewise! Of all the top notchers, Alex P. seems to be working hard at becoming the slowest player and definitely the slowest racker, I can ever recall! :(

That probably won't happen. Jay H is Denny's Johnnie Cochran and loves all things Pinoy pool related.

I consistently root against Dennis, Lee Vann and Francisco. But I've lived in the RP day in and day out for years now and see the quality of character here. You can take the boy out of the barrio, but you can't take the barrio out of the boy.

He may be blind to Dennis' obvious shortcomings, due to their close friendship..Jay is an intelligent, pool savvy guy.. However, it is hard to believe he is ignoring what seems to be the popular 'anti-Dennis' consensus here on AZB!

I'd sure like to hear the other side of this story. I've know James since the Jansco days, and played em many times in match play over the years. Something else was going on.

I traveled from Houston to Orlando in December 2005 to attend the IPT Orlando event. The event was invitational to all BCA Hall of Famers so there were lots of HOFers there that don't usually go to all the big events. Machine Gun Lou, Ewa, Buddy, Sigel, Rempe, Loree Jon, Varner, and on and on. Even the Miz was there in a wheelchair.

I had several days to get all the autographs so I was in no hurry. There were poster booklets that lots of fans were getting signed. I had a stack of 3x5 cards that I got individual signatures on. Pretty cool atmosphere all around. Rempe signed a 3x5 card for me on day 1.

Mike Sigel, Buddy Hall, Jim Rempe were standing outside the doors leading into the main playing room chatting on the second day. I approached them with my cue ball and showed them the few signatures that were already on it. I asked them if they'd sign it. Sigel said, "Sure" and took the ball, signed it and said something to Buddy who took the ball and signed it. Jim Rempe walked away toward a table that had been set up for autographs and sat down. Maybe 30 feet away. Buddy said he didn't see Mike Massey on it yet. Massey just happened to be standing nearby and Buddy called out to him to come sign it. He did, no problemo.

I take the ball from Mike and walk over to Jim Rempe who is now sitting behind the autograph table and ask him to sign the HOFer cue ball. He tells me that he can sign it but it will cost 100 dollars. At first, I thought he was joking. He wasn't. I just walked away. There was nothing else going on.

Now whenever I think of Rempe, I think of that. :(

No Dennis Orcollo is not an angel!

But, to be grouped with guys guilty of sharking, cheating & dumping!

He has never done anything "close" to the things of some of those mentioned in this thread. His name being mentioned along with some of the "worst" in pool is a huge mis-characterization.

Yes, he is a sore loser!
Yes, he quit on Max Eberle in middle of straight pool match
Yes, he quit in middle of match when it got "even" with Melrose.

I just think he is getting a bum rep with this thread!
