Is There Some Hidden -or- Special Meaning To Your Unusual Az Name / Avatar?

Mine came when I was working for a company that built gas stations. My avatar is me from a tourny a few years ago.

There is a story about my avatar. I go to a Cinco DeMayo party dressed as Clint Eastwood (the man with no name) in "A Fist full of dollars." I could not find a serape and my wife had this old Mexican rug laying around so I cut it and wore it. Funny thing is there was a 25 year old Mexican girl at the party (from Mexico City) and she really likes my serape so I gave it to her and the last I heard she still wears it.

So yep that's me with a cigar stub and a 30-30 that I carried around all night. Can't see the pistol but it is there too. And that little Mexican girl is now and American citizen.

There is a madness to gambling, A guy Will lose everything he has betting on one thing or the other. I do not want to be that guy. I want to be on the other side the winning side. My avatar is a picture of my pool table a pool stick and a puppy named spot he heals me remember spots are for women and children .

in 1969 i was in Viet Nam with the 1st Battalion 9th Marine Regiment. that time was the best and the worst time of my life. best because i have brothers with whom i walked the walk and saw "The Elephant". the worst because "The Elephant" was a Badd MFer. when i registered i hit the 0 instead of o. my avatar is a mouse pad with a battalion insignia and locations with our nickname from Uncle Ho that is part of out legacy. he promised that he would wipe us out to the last man. he said we were walking dead men.

This is a great thread and has cleared up some mysteries for me.
Also this is one of the rare threads where nobody is bashing or threatening anyone.
Is this a trend for the New Year? Sadly I think not. :(

12squared = 12x12 = 12 dozen = 144 = Gross (my last name)

Interesting thread

I've wondered about az names since joining.

I wanted something pool related (footspot) but left out the t by mistake. Too lazy to change it now.

I thought avatar was funny-nothing special.

Like many others, mine is just a name variation. Rob's the name. Used to play games with the kids and was tagged DadMan, so added the "Man" to Rob.

Never had an avator until today! So now I do. Just a pic from the bow of my boat looking out of a cove. It is my place of RELAXATION and time with the fam!

Because my name is "RJ" and I was born and raised in Chicago, but now reside 35 miles west of the city. Normally, when anyone in the Chicago burbs travels out of state and someone asks where they are from, it's just natural to say Chicago versus a suburb nobody ever heard of.....

Avatar is from a car that I owned for 5 years but recently sold. It was a 1998 Benz SL600 with a V12, (29K miles) and had a removable hardtop. I sold it cause I have another covertible that I like better.... not to mention the Benz only got 9 mpg... going downhill :)

Wild Wing is one of my favorite golf courses, this one in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Avatar is three of my cues, Jerry Rauenzahn, Palmer Model C, and Richard Black.

For maniac and black balled whom I mentioned in the op, there may be more to their stories so please guys, feel free to chime in.

best,

Mine's pretty straightforward. I got it back in High School. You ever heard that joke "What's the last words out of a redneck's mouth? Answer: Hey fellas, watch this!" Or, do you remember the old cereal commercial that said "Hey, let Mikey try it."

Well, I was the butt of that redneck joke AND Mikey all rolled up into one. I did some crazy sh*t back in those days. Mostly crazy stunts done from inside (or outside) of a car. There wasn't anything I wouldn't do or try, all to amuse my friends.

I'm very lucky to have survived my youth. I've settled down since then, but it was a slow, lingering process so the name stuck. It was my road name in the M/C club I later road with.

Maniac (those were the days.....)

ok, I promised I would post often in order for get some here on AZ to get to know me. This thread fits.

My name comes from 2 sources of my life. A "Dunn" is an adult insect in entomology(the study of insects). I used to fly-fish, so a "Dunn" dry-fly was some of the best top-water action to fish.
I also have a boyish looking face,so it kinda plays with the fact that even though I (used to) look young,I am indeed an adult. "51" is my current age when I joined AZ.
I share the name "Dunn" with a few other sites namely for playing cards, (no , not poker............... Pinochle ! ) Pinoche is to poker what the QE3 is to a catamaran. :boring2: so "Dunnn has 3 "n's" here to differentiate from cards.
oh,....and I'll change my avatar every month or so just to keep ya'all entertained.

Nothing special. Both of my Harleys are Blue. I have a bud that I grew up with, drove truck with and eventually had a truck leased on with his company. I'd walk in, in the morning and he would ask, Hows Blue Hog this morning.

I had one truck and trailer, my business was registered as Blue Hog Trucking.

One Christmas, my wife had Blue Hog Trucking embroidered on two polo shirts for me. Pretty cool. That is the closest I have ever came to fame and going bankrupt.

My avatar(s) are there to provoke thought for those who

I enjoyed the story about your avatar, J....

I, too, very much enjoyed the story behind JoeW's avatar. Previous to his explanation I would take a quick look and think, cool, Joe must be an old hippie soul attending a folk festival or similar. Meanwhile he was actually carring a 30/30 in plain site, ala Clint Eastwood, that I never noticed until now. Yeah, hippie with a chip on his shoulder, maybe. :D

Or is he really the teenage girl posting from Oregon?

And pt, the measureman link you provided where he explains Cinco De Mayo is great!

We really are getting a chance to learn more about our fellow az'ers on this thread and I'm enjoying it a whole lot.

Please keep 'em coming.

Matthew:

Interesting! The name "Gene Krupa" is a very special name for me, in that I grew up in Yonkers, NY (not too far from where Gene himself lived), and my dad was very good friends with Gene. Since my dad was with the Yonkers police at the time, he watched over Gene's place while he was out of town / on tour. They got to be really close -- so much so, that he told my dad that when he (my dad) finally has a son, that he (Gene) would be delighted to be his (my) personal drum instructor.

Sadly, Gene passed away from leukemia in 1973, and I never did get those drum lessons (I was too young at the time, and anyway Gene's health had declined in the years prior to his passing). However, 1.) I did meet him several times as a kid, and 2.) I do have some 78-rpm vinyl LPs signed by Gene, and I will treasure these the rest of my life!

When I make trips back to Yonkers, I always make a point to visit the street they now named after this one-of-a-kind talent, Gene Krupa Drive.

You brought back some good memories!
-Sean

Wow, that's really cool!
