I am the storm

As I write these words, "JAM's 10,000th Post," I can't help but think about my AzBilliards journey. It started with an invitation from SmorgassBored. Thanks a lot, Smorgie! :D

I will never forget going to Vegas for the first time, all in the name of pool. I love America, and this trip, seeing the States up front and close, only reinforced my long-held belief that I do, in fact, live in the best country in the entire world, BAR NONE. We drove 3,200 miles and arrived a day early for the tournament. In fact, this is one of my personal favorite threads on the forum, written during the trip at various hotels, entitled "Vegas or Bust": http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=36534&highlight=corn

And here's my second favorite thread, after I returned home and posted up my Vegas pics: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=38034&highlight=Venetian

The first thing Keith wanted to do upon arrival was to take a stroll and check out the Venetian casino games. No surprise here! As I'm standing there at the dice table, sweating each throw of the dice, tired from the long journey, up walks this handsome Englishman who says, "JAM. You're JAM, aren't you? I'm so glad to meet you." I get a chuckle when people call me "JAM" instead of "Jennie," but I kind of like being AzBilliard's JAM. :p

Soon I came to know the gentleman was none other than Brian Saleh, an 8-ball player from Britain, and ironically, his first match of the whole tournament the next morning was with Keith. That didn't stop us from partying until the wee hours of the morning in our suite, and we soon became friends. None of this would have ever happened if it weren't for AzBilliards.

When I was more active on the tournament trail, I truly enjoyed writing on this forum about tournament happenings and updates, as well as disseminating all the pool smut I could muster. Keith would get so annoyed with me. Returning to our hotel room each and every night, sometimes well after midnight, having to get up early the next day for a morning match, I never failed to make a beeline for my laptop, wanting to keep my AzBilliards friends apprised of the goings-on. That used to bring me such great joy. As soon as we'd get back home, I'd post all the pictures I took, with Keith in about every single one of them, but nobody seemed to mind. :o

Waking up today, I was pleasantly greeted with several threads about my 10,000th post. I must say it really put a smile on my face. To answer a few inquiries, Keith's book, my book, is still a work in progress. Keith is definitely coming out of retirement to play Billy Incardona, IF THE LOGISTICS CAN BE WORKED OUT WITH THE OTHER PARTIES INVOLVED. Keith's monies are secured, and he's raring to go. ;)

Pool and this forum have brought me great pleasure, even though there have been times of despair on occasion. I often wonder why SJM doesn't post as much as he used to, and I miss Eydie Romano as well. I cried like a baby when we lost OldHasBeen, Rude Dog, and BreakUp, my forum buddies. AzBilliards, whether I want to admit it or not, is a big part of my pool world. :p

There will always be tournaments for Keith and I to go to. How much enjoyment we derive from pool depends on what's going on in our lives OUTSIDE of pool. For me today, pool is more like a hobby than it is a way of life, the way it used to be.

That said, we do attract into our lives the things we want. They will always be based on what we're thinking and feeling. We all create our own circumstances by the choices we make in our lives. The choices we make are fueled by our own thoughts. And thoughts are the most powerful things we have here on earth. :)

Well Done

Wow 10,000 posts Jam .... Well done it has been a pleasure reading what little I have been able to read of your posts... And I know you must feel for the ones that you got close to that are no longer here...But this board is alot like life itself you never know what each new day will bring ... And heck there may be some of us newbies that come along that you take too and enjoy almost as much ... You never know what life holds for you as each day springs new...

10,000 posts is a awesome milestone and you seem to have done it in style I don't know if I will ever reach that many posts ... But I know I have enjoyed several of your reads already in the short time I have been here... Here is hoping you post 10,000 more

You've put some love into the lives of others and that's the most important thing any of us can ever do. That's an act that changes the world.

I'm glad you are in my world.

You have made almost 3X as many posts as I have? WOW!!!

My favorite posts of yours are actually from RSB back in 2001-2002 - I'm sure you know why.

Although we have not seen eye to eye in recent years, I have always appreciated your openness and the honesty in your posts - as well as the tales from the road.

For those that do not know what Jennie is doing over at Wikipedia - go check out all of the information she has been adding over there to accurately document the history of our game. That is such a difficult thing to do, and she is doing it out of her love for the game.

JAM, you are an invaluable asset to this forum, and I hope you stick around for 10,000 more posts.

Your fingers must be tired JAM!

The amazing thing about her getting to 10,000 is that she hardly is ever short winded by her posts. Almost all of her posts paints a picture of what she wants you to see or feel with paragraphs of edited punctuations and journal perfect grammar.

Congrats on 10,000!

Congrats, JAM

I found AZB after doing a Google search on Keith. A few of your posts were incuded in the results. Soon enough I signed up for the forum. With my interest in pool renewed, I set about building a game room with pool table, ping pong, shuffleboard and pinball.

In some ways, I feel like you're responsible for this happening. So thanks! My game room features free drinks at the bar during happy hour, which happens to run 24/7, and it's open to all AZBers.

Here's to 10,000 more posts. Cheers
