the league players were im from are killing pool.. Not only will they not go to a pool room and learn a thing about the game. If you start a team out of the pool room when they have to come play there they cry because the tables are to big. They are not even in tune with the game enough to know how great the conditions are that they are getting to play on FOR FREE...So now two of the rooms are going to start taking out 9fters and putting in 7fters, Great... Way to go league players, and to be crystal about it, APA league players, the others dont really mind they are just to few in numbers to matter...

Good bye pool room you will be missed....

Mowen down...You're presumably an adult. Why don't you open your own poolroom...9' tables only, of course. Then you could keep out those pesky league players...you know the ones...those people who actually like to have a beer or cocktail (or 2) while they play; or the ones that might bring their wives or girlfriends with them, and spend money too. You could put up a great big sign: NO LEAGUE PLAYERS ALLOWED...ESPECIALLY APA. LMAO...you'd be broke in a month. Without league players there would be NO poolrooms.

Tap, Tap, Tap. Most APA players play pool to enjoy time with their friends and pool is secondary. Five of the pool players on my team only play on league night and don't care to play any other time. Scott is right in that they will buy dinner and drinks while they are playing league. It generates alot more business for the tavern (with league night 4 times a week). Some of the best players where I play don't have alot of money to eat out and buy drinks very often and the bars would go broke in a hurry.

I am a serious pool player like you Mowen and love playing on big tables against real players who practice 5-10 hours a week. I also enjoy watching APA Skill level 2s (who can't hit the end rail) simply because THEY TRY JUST AS HARD TO WIN AS I DO - they just don't have the skill to play very good.

What are you crying about. If you are such a great player on the big table then you should be a master on the small or BB. You should be a lock to win every game and give back to the game by showing the cry babies how the big boys play. Or is it you find that a smaller table does not make it easier as you have more clusters that have to be broke out and because of the smaller area your CB control must be more precise and maybe some banking skills?

Another is how many 9ft tables do you need to play on at one time? If all the tables are being filled then the owner wouldn't see a reason to replace a few with the 7 FT tables.

Our local PH replaced 2 Valley BB with 2 7 ft Diamonds. He is now adding 4 more and removing some 9 ft tables. Players are lining up for the 7 ft tables while those 9 ft tables are empty. He will still has plenty of 9 ft tables but the demand is there for the 7 ft Diamonds. Supply and demand, give the customer what they want. The amazing thing is he charges more for the smaller tables.

As Scott stated open your own pool room and see if you survive with your attitude.

The OP's opinion is pretty ignorant, but still, it is his opinion!! In my opinion, all these leagues defintely contribute to pool one way or another. I know a bunch of APA players that run racks out here in Montana.

i wouldn't go so far as to say there'd be no pool rooms but league players do, do more good than bad from what i can tell anyway.

moemdown you ought to get more teams started out of that pool room. the more actual players you get the more likely they are to inspire the rest of the league players to really take up playing

Interesting post.....lump all league players together. Here in our league most of the tables are 9 footers and most players prefer to play on them and complain when they go to the little ones. As for a night out? Yeah most of us like the night out with a few beers and friends. But we also have a good group of the players who do take it serious and spend time practicing. But then that is just our local league. Why can't you just let people have fun instead of complaining that they are ruining pool.

Don't laugh it Happens!!!

League player take your money on a bar box?
I was sitting in bar on league night and a so called player friend challenged anyone to play for money ?
Wow my sl 9 super player was there so he played $1oo race to 3 8b!
after 3 sets stranger ran out door after he lost 300 u don't know who u got in these places!
FYI my teammate was finalist in apa sponsored US Amateur!

Another time guy wanted to give any apa team player 5-7 9b for money
I said OK he said no way!
2 days later OK but on bar box
played race to 5 for 20
I won 20
I won 20
adjust to 5 ball I won
I won
he quit
80 winner
Just because people play APA league doesn't mean they can't play

for u guys who are not afraid !
APA Masters players are the real deal!!!!

I'm gonna side with Mowem Down on this one.....it seems like finding a nice nine-footer in a pool room anymore is almost impossible.....not all of us have the luxury of a pool table at home (still hoping to some day), and many with a home table simply don't have the room for a big table....hell, I've had a couple of buddies with 7 footers in their apartment....

He's just beyotching because his home room, probably one of the few ones if not the only one close to him, dumped their nice big tables in favor of bar boxes.....yeah, you can play 14.1, 1 pocket, 10-ball, and almost any game on a 7 footer, but it just isn't the same....

Don't get me wrong, I am in favor of leagues....BCA Masters, APA Masters, and any other masters leagues should be played on 9 footers IMHO, and there are more than a few of those out there.....granted, APA is really tailored towards 7 footers considering the skill of the lower level players.....

Mowem, I get you man.....you lost the good tables in your favorite spot to play.....it sucks....

well it sucks that the pool room doesn't have enough space for both but what it comes down to is money. What would you rather, have 7 footers or none at all?

That^^^ I havent lost one game this season due to the fact that we play on bar tables.. Well that and there isnt that many great players (strongest in my room) but should the table size matter ?? You betca!!! There is no long green shots... Your break should be monster due to amount of space to the head of the rack (you should make at lest 2 every time with a good rack).

Just because the table is smaller doesnt mean you should complain. Hell you may even feel like a world beater against all those APA chumps

One of our local spots APA was played in stopped and started Beer pong stating they make more money that way. So it could be worse for you.

Someone telling me that they play pool for a league is for me, the equivalent of saying that they play pool with a group of crappy players and they are probably crappy too.

It may be different where you live but most probably it isn't.

That statement is asinine in so many ways it just screams that you are stirring the pot....

Of course no one that could actually "play" would play in a league! We are the lowest of the low. It says so right here on the internet!

Actually, I love it when people have that elitist attitude. Reminds me to stay grounded in anything I do, not just pool. Because I'm not worthy enough for my betters... Funny though, my money sure is good enough for the pool rooms I play in. Funnier still, all the other lowly league players money is good enough, too.

How good is your money? Is it better than mine?

Oh well, crappy player out!

I personally enjoy both types of players and atmospheres. But, I challenge you to raise the question to the business owner who they would rather have as regular customers. There's a reason league is sanctioned on more nights than higher level tournaments.
