Lewis Jones aka ironman has passed away.

From what I can gather, massive stroke and never regained consciousness.

63 years old, more details to follow I am sure.

Very sorry to hear this. I too enjoyed his posts and gambling road stories. RIP. Johnnyt

Lewis called me a few days ago. He said about a month ago, he collapsed into a diabetic coma and woke up a couple days later in the hospital. He said they had amputated four toes from his right foot.

He told me he had been in the hospital for 29 days and if everything went well, he expected to be released in about a week. He told me he would call when he got out. I have not talked to his family yet as I just found out late tonight at league.

About a year before we started the Fast Eddie's Tour in late 1999, Lewis was diagnosed with diabetes. He fought it hard but it gradually took its toll on him over the years.

They don't call it the "Silent Killer" for nothing.

Even though I'd heard his road stories a thousand times, I will miss hearing them one more time.

R.I.P., my friend!

I never met Lewis - but many spoke highly of him.

He and I talked a couple of years ago several times. He really enjoyed pool and always seemed to be trying to improve the game, either through running tournaments or trying to figure out a way to get better equipment or more sponsors or to just improve.

Another one of the old times. I believe he was pretty tight with Danny Medina back in the day.

RIP buddy - sorry we didn't talk more- I enjoyed our chats.

Godspeed. Butch was definitely one of the bigger personalities and longtime members.

What terrible news!

He and Paul ran the Fast Eddies Tour for years. I donated whenever I heard the tour was coming back to Houston and befriended him on those occasions.

Charlie Bryant spoke highly of him to me on several occasions at Legends and Fast Eddies.

Last time I saw Lewis, he offered me some even up 1 - pocket for 50 a game. I declined because I knew his speed was way out of my league. Lewis and I matched up playing 9b once and he spanked me good. I count him as one of my gambling mentors.

I think I'm done on AZB for today. :(

Lewis was ''always'' jonezen' with his great laugh and incredible sense of humor. He will be missed, but I'm so lucky to of known him, and traveled on the road together for a couple weeks, with the end of that trip....Helferts La Open in which Mark Tadd won. RIP ma man, but I don't see him resting, he's much like a Minnesota Fats personality and is always in the middle of the Fun....and to all his family, he was Great to be around and one of those special people that made everyone feel better about their day and being alive.
