not lost but dwindling:
-really hand-crafted cues
-hand carved billiard tables and racks
-the art of performance
(building a 'persona' or character, and working the crowd/fans)
i hear the slip stroke is going away slowly

People will talk about lost arts in other sports: Base hitting batters and defensive techniques in boxing. Are there any in pool? Obviously the game and equipment has changed so much since Hoppe chalked up but I was just curious if anybody had a few.
I would love for someone to show me a "real" slip stroke. I think it's gone.
Josh
Weird! I have never heard of a slip stroke before this thread so I looked it up. I do it most of the time, and have had guys tell me not to do that (You know the type of guy...the ones who have to 'coach' you after every shot you take because you're a female and obviously can't possibly know how to shoot pool) lol.

I wanna see!
LOL, and yes, I do know that type of ass. I'm a dude, and it ticks me off. You're a female, and you shoot pool; you're hot. Add in a "real" slip stroke and I'm available for instant marriage; no coaching included.

It's always nice to see such a mature, enlightened attitude towards female pool players.
I'm sure she appreciates you taking her seriously and treating her respectfully.

Wayne Norcross...camera little shaky..but check .43, .54, 1.13 for starters...I think this is a slipstroke.
Wayne is a class guy with a classy stroke.
Umm, I was taking her seriously. I would like to see her slip stroke. Re-read Hu's post and you'll see why.
Did you miss the first sentence of my second paragraph?
