God was looking after me while I slept yesterday as I woke up having a stroke, jumped in the shower and made it to the hospital in time to only have left leg and left arm numbness and very little control over either. I can walk slowly without a cane or walker and didn't have any speach problem's and they say the arm and leg will get close to normal in a few weeks. Don't know how much the floppy bridge hand will hurt my pool playing but might find out tonight, after begging the Dr. to let me go home tonight. My elevated blood pressure and sugar levels were the cause so the parties over.--Leonard

Count your blessings. Spend time with your loved ones. I dedicate my next Sam Adams Octoberfest to you!

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was
full. They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He
shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf
balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course,
the sand filled up the remaining space. He asked once more if the jar was full. The
students responded with an unanimous 'yes'.

The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and poured the
entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the space between the sand
particles. The students laughed.

Now, said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that
this jar represents your life. "
"The golf balls are the important things - your family, your children, your health,
your friends, your favourite passions - things that if everything else were lost,
and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other
things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else
- the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the
pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and
energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are
important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children. Take your partner out to dinner. Go out with friends. There
will always be time to clean the house and fix the washing. Take care of the golf
balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just
sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer represented. The
professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how
full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of beers."

You should go gamble! Jk... in all seriousness what a moment in life. I wish u the best.

Leonard,

Take care of yourself. You have a ton of friends out here, but you dodged one here so be sure to take care of yourself. Get well and enjoy life fully. And pocket those balls!

Thanks guys and I did wake up my daughter to drive me so's I didn't kill nobody if I siezed up and the 3 Dr's I ran into gave me hell about my diabetes so I'll try a new diet. Heck if I quit 5 packs a day cold turkey ten years ago I can slow down on the grub a little and at least check the sugar 2 times a day. Foolio I'll buy some lotto tickets tomorrow just for your thoughts and if I hit a good one we will both have a nice cue from Will. Is that a deal?--Leonard

Wow, that's scary for sure - sorry to hear that, Leonard, and best wishes for a rapid and complete recovery. One of my friends had one not too long ago and he's doing fine.

I know what it means to be struck with something so dangerous......

I'm still not out of danger but it's good to know that your ok at least

Good Luck with your health there Leonard,

I know how easy it is to not hurry to the hospitol. Been there. That diabetes is no joke.

Hope you have a speedy recovery and start knocking those balls around again soon.......

Wow ,That was close.Time to reevaluate things and make your health a priority .I'm sure your family has already said that.I hope you have a rapid and total recovery. Bob Jacobs

Sorry to hear about your stroke. Been there, done that twice. Buy yourself a good blood pressure machine and take your pressure 4 times a day or whenever you just don't feel right (headache, dizzy, feel faint, and so on) until it stays normal 24/7. I'm sure you love pool, but I'd give up going out to play it until you KNOW everything is stable. Best of health to you. Johnnyt

Moments like this in life tend to make us take a step back and look at everything in the bigger picture. It can be a reality check for a lot of people, and it seems like it may have been one for you Leonard. Diabetes runs in my family, on both sides. My uncle went into a diabetic coma while driving and t-boned an F150. He never bothered checking his blood-sugar levels and had a diet consisting of whatever he wanted to eat. It's not something to take lightly, please take care of yourself. I wish you nothing but the best.

Poolcuemaster-Leonard,I sincerely hope you recover.Take care of yourself.
