I hate to be the bearer of depressing information, but here is an update I received today on Grady's wife, Randi......

Good Morning -

It has been a long while since this journal was updated. Randi has been through some really up and down times over the last few months. The chemo finished and the doctors were pleased with the progress made. All the tumors shrunk and they were hoping to give Randi a few months to be able to recover from the treatments and gain her strength and will to fight back.

Unfortunately, Randi has continued downhill. Her strength decreased while her anxiety continued to spiral out of control. Several options were looked at while she was kept hospitalized. She was eventually moved to a rehab facility where they had hoped to stabilize her and get some physical therapy to increase her muscle strength so she could go back home.

We have been contacted by the rehab facility and told that Randi has stopped communicating, is shutting down and seems to be in significant pain. While her heart and lungs seem strong, she is being given more medication to try to help her pain and keep her comfortable. This has led to the discussion of signing a DNR. All of us know that Randi never wanted to be in pain.

Carole and Shanna are leaving NH tonight to go to SC for at least the weekend. Maybe some new faces can bring Randi out of where she has gone. Only God knows right now what is happening. Your prayers and love will be helpful to Randi and her family as we gather. Thank you for all of your caring words and thoughts.

We will update as we learn more.
*******************************************************

Randi, Grady and their family needs a miracle, many prayers and some peace right now. And tons of support. This transcends pool.

How about a moratorium on any more negative comments about the man for a while? I know this will be hard for some, but try hard.

Very Sorry to here this, Randi is a wonderful Lady who doesn't deserve the suffering. I hope she can find the strength for recovery, but more importantly I hope that God eases her pain and doesn't allow her to suffer.

Take Care

Thanks, Terry. Grady, you and your family will be in my thoughts and meditations.
Wishing you all well.

Grady,

I know that you don't know me at all. And although you may not even get a chance to read this I am going to put it out there for you to draw strength and hope from. My wife was diagnosed with cancer just this past week and I can tell you from experience that I know what you are going through.

There is nothing worse in this world than seeing devastation on the face of someone you love more than anything in this world. I know how you feel. My wife is my best friend, my lover, my rock, and my guiding light. It hurts like hell and leaves you with a huge empty feeling deep in your gut.

I know there are no words that can ease the pain of what you are feeling. Our family, our friends and even total strangers have become our strength to get through this awful time, like you and Randi, we are going through.

Grady, as many people as there are out there pulling for my family there are that many multiplied times 1000 pulling for you and Randi. You are in our thoughts and prayers and hope this message finds you and yours with a stronger resolve to do what you must; KEEP FIGHTING!!!

My wife is 32 years old and we have 2 children age 9 and 5. We go to the hospital tomorrow for surgery and pray for us that everything goes well. The doctor is telling us we have 6 months of chemo and then 3 months of radiation afterward. Go get 'em Randi and Grady!!!! As one of my wife's shirts say "Fight like a girl"!!!

Everyone please keep us in your prayers as well!!!

The Gullett Family

Tough times for the Matthews family. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family, Grady. I know it's difficult to remain strong all the time but please know you have many supporters and you are all on many prayer lists and in the thoughts of many.

Take care.

Sincerely,
Melinda

This is exactly what I would have posted.

I'm at a loss for words, but I just hate to see bad things happen to good people. Randi was very sweet to me when we met, and I wish the best for her.

KY, my thoughts and prayers are also with you and family. Been thru it too many times with my own family, so know the feeling.
Grady, you have many friends here on AZ, you're a lucky man.
Our prayers are with you tonight.
