My DCC thread

It was good to meet you Jay and very nice to talk to you as well. I figured you had someone other than Brian G. or Shannon in the ring game by your reactions when Jett made each ball.. It was nice to see someone else get the cheese in that game for a change.

I am really enjoying the book too thanks.. I did get to put Rodney in the losers bracket in the banks division before Efren disposed of me in the next match. I had a great few days there but had to get back to work..

I can live through the stream on AZ and posts from you and others that are still there.

Peace, Joey

Amazing comeback! Brandon was down 8-5 and made a great comeback, thanks to a couple of timely errors by George. It's getting crazy here, big games everywhere. Some young guy from Albania named Ilar Laho played Efren for a few thou getting 12-6. He beat Effie and now he's playing Harry Platis 9-Ball Banks for 500 a game.

Jeanette played a huge game for SERIOUS money with Monster John. 9-Ball, Race to 21 for a BUNCH! He got her 21-19. Gotta give JL credit, she gets in there and mixes it up with the big boys. There is no other women on Earth quite like her. She's rich, she's famous and yet she loves the action. Jeanette is still in the trenches now, gambling at some new game. She's FEARLESS! And a mother with two kids!

The wildest game is old timer Jim "Pretty Boy Floyd" Mataya playing one handed 9-Ball for 500 a game with CRAZY Tim Heath. Each game takes 15-20 minutes and is a show in itself, with more woofing and sharking than you've ever seen. I can hear them yelling from here. I'm telling you it's a wild and crazy night at DCC. There is some crazy sh-t going on here. And all for BIG money! I haven't even made it into the Tarpit yet.

Why am I up so late? I played the One Pocket mini that started after Midnite and had back to back long three game matches (maybe two hours each, won one & lost one). I'm worn out, exhausted and yet feel like I don't want to miss anything. I'll take one more look around and head up to bed.

Jeanette is just hanging out now watching Bobby Dickerson Jr. (oneononepooltourneys) play Tedder and Scooter alternating games of 9-Ball for $$$. She is definitely one of the "boys". And I forgot one other important game going on. JHendy is playing Artie One Pocket a Race to Seven for another small bundle of cheese. Try 10,000 cheetos! 3-3 right now.

This is shaping up to be the most eventful DCC yet. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything quite like this, at Johnston City or anywhere else. It's a five ring circus tonight!

I was watching Timmy and Mataya play. Did you know it started with a $1000 coin toss which Timmy lost. Just crazy comments the whole time they played. I taped some of it on my camera. I hope the sound comes out good since the woofing was awesome. Timmy got his $1000 back plus $2500 playing one-handed 9-ball; $500 a game. At the end Timmy gave Mataya the 8. Teder and Scooter got 5 games on Bobby; $700 a game. Driving back to ATL from DCC now.

Oh, I hope to post the pics and maybe the videos I took in the next couple days and with create a new post with link(s).

Cheers, Mark

Can't begin to express how much we ("us poor bastards that couldn't be there") appreciate the updates, please keep them coming.

The action remains hot and heavy here, bordering on insanity at times. I came upstairs a while ago and bets were being taken on two pool scuffs fighting. Fortunately that one didn't come off.

Jeanette is playing a high dollar 9-Ball match with Larry Price right now. She is getting the eight ball in Ten Ball for four figures, Nine Ahead I believe. Ricky Byrd is in action on the next table for some serious coin. Other games underway in other locales.

The One Pocket Challenge ended tonight with an amazing final day. At the begining of the day Gabe and Scott Rabon were leading with 38's. Neither of these scores were in the money by the end of the day! Scott opened the festivities with a 42. Then Beau Runningen came in and gave it a try. He didn't do much his first turn and then Gabe coached him on the all-important break shot. Beau shot magnificently to turn in a sweet 48. For a while that looked like it might take down the cash. Then John Schmidt stopped by. He has claimed to shoot 60's while practicing at home. We'll see. John played one time and shot a sparkling 53! Only the first score over 50 besides Gabe's 60 from two years ago. I was pretty certain that this would be the winning score.

Then Alex sticks his head in the door close to 9 PM and asks to take a shot. When he hears John S. has the leading score it only gives him more incentive to put a big number on the board. On his first try he lets everyone know how much he likes knocking John off his pedestal. Pretty tall order here. Oh well, on his second try he hits 'em with a 15, a 2 and another 15. He has 32 after three turns, two left to go. No problem, an 11 and a 12 to finish and Alex has his 55! And John is in second place. Corey is last to play and opens strong but fades to a 44 for fourth place. Final payouts - Alex $1,040, John $780, Beau $520 and Corey $260.

The first round of the Fatboy is in the books. Shane drew Alex and beat a very weary Alex 15-13. Beau R. took on Chris Bartram and played superbly, winning 15-8. Efren also showed he is in fine form taking Rodney out 15-8. By the way, the magic man also finished second in the Bank Pool division to John Brumback earlier in the evening. No mean feat with a field of 353 players, including all the best bankers alive. Shannon Murphy took out local hopeful Joe Pierce 15-8, and Santos and Luat had a friendly match with Santos prevailing 15-12. Francisco continued his great play with a 15-8 victory over Stevie Moore and Johnny Archer dominated his former traveling companion John Schmidt 15-5. The final match of the first round was a doozy between Brandon Shuff and Jon Pinegar. They nearly came to blows and yours truly had to make a close call that rubbed Jon the wrong way (I called it correct!). In the end Brandon won an exciting hill-hill game to move on to round two. It resumes tomorrow night at Midnite.

I don't know why but it feels a little crazy here at times. Unlike the feeling I've ever had before at any pool tournament.

Sometimes you can just "feel" it in your gut... somethings up. Edgy. On the edge. The energy is not right.

thanks much Jay, Really appreciate your updates. Also got your book, but was done with it in a few hours. Excellent read, but too damn short!!!! The next one come out with one that's about 600 pages and charge twice as much

thanks Jay..

You are the best Jay and thanks for all you are doing for those of us at home and not there for all the festivities..

Jeffy

I have to agree with Jay, this is a crazy DCC compared to last year.

There is action everywhere, all the time, and Jeanette Lee is involved in big money matches every single day, attracting lots of spectators.

Definitely gets my vote for the Louis Roberts award!!! (unless something changes drastically the last 5 days)

I am still waiting for some big matches that includes Efren, Shane or Alex... Hope something will happen...

Big Nasty was very clear on the chat, stating that Jesse Bowman was his favourite for the award. Perhaps he is not drawing as many spectators as JL

Does anyone know who plays each other in the 2nd round of the Fatboy Challenge? Brackets?

Go on Azbilliards.com and check out the article about the one pocket challenge they got brackets. SVB basically gets to walk through to the finals.

My guy Busty has to beat Stevie Moore(already won), now he has to beat Johnny, then probably Efren just to play SVB(most likely) in the finals. Brutal draw! If anyone can do it though it is Busty. He's lookin pretty damn fabulous right now.

Watchez, has Ricky Byrd won any of those matchups? I watched two of them and he wasn't doing all that well.

He beat Scooter the first time, lost the second, and then lost to Carl. Had Carl 5-4 going to 6 and lost.
