I have been out of the country for a bit and just got back in last week. It took me a couple of days to work my way through this thread. Good points both ways.
However, my dealings with KV have always been above board. I called him and asked him to build me a cue with leather wrap and an ivory joint, we talked for an hour. He told me straight away that he was animal friendly and would not make the cue I wanted, but discussed balance pointes, tips, wood quality, and wrap vs wrapless. For this I respect him. He was not just after my money but me be satisfied with the final product. I also have a great regard for Mr. Wheat which I have contacted once and thinking out exactly what I want in a cue from him after our discussion. Both were very informed and straight forward with me. I am going to give myself a Christmas gift of one of Mr. Wheat’s cues.
In the mean time I have had the pleasure of playing with a cue that KV made (a friend of mine has one) and was very pleased with the balance and the hit. I am going to order one when this thing blows over or even if it does not, shucks man it is my money and I can spend it on what I think is a quality product if I want. I am in neither camp on this, and yes I get the point of the thread, but I think it has been carried to extremes on both sides. But with my previous experience I do not have any problems making an order with KV. This is what the man does for a living and I like the end product.
