My Varney Nightmare

maybe it's time for you to set a deadline. either a cue or a refund in X amount of days or you will take legal action. sounds like you have put up with this long enough.


i'm sure that has been done a time or two.good luck with your ordeal.

I have you back Cincyman, I have been watching this gentleman talk $hit, threaten forum members, pay / give free gifts to those who support his tactics for more than two years. His sales tactics, and his mightier than thou attitude, all point to his lack of Character, and I was certain it was just matter of time before his Boastful ways would over ride his line of Bull $hit.

But, I do not just Blame Kevin for getting away with this crap for so long, I also place equal blame on those who have supported him no matter what he did to other forum members. These people were in direct contact with Kevin, and they planned their foolish attacks on forum members who were tired of Kevin's deceptive behavior. Now I say deceptive, simple because these same people were also drumming up business for Kevin, they did this by contacting new members who asked for information about cues. This was all part of Kevin's plan to get peoples money and many fell into this trap. In return for their service as loyal Varney Customers, who would drop his name into every possible thread, they were give special gifts. These gifts may have been cue repair, free Sneaky Pete's or Jump Break cues, but what ever the reward, they sacrificed their integrity along with Kevin, and they should not be forgotten for it.

Some people may say that I am Jealous of Kevin, that I am just a hater, or that for some other reason I have it out for Kevin, but the truth is I am just tired of Kevin's behavior. No forum member should be deceived, Lied to, or cheated when doing business on this forum, AZ Billiards can only be a safe place if all of the membership stands up for what is right. In the recent past many have forgotten how important this is and because of this things have come to this. I have put my reputation on the line to expose this, and I am certain that many are tired of all this and also tired of hearing from me, however, I would do it all again given the same situation without a second thought.

Now I am certain Kevin, that you will post at some point, and say that the Mod's have warned you not get involved,:rolleyes: and that I have it out for you, or I am trying to run you off AZ, or I am a manwus, or whatever.:boring: But Kevin you have dug your own hole, I told you that you were heading down a road you did not want to travel, well Kevin you have finally hit the wall at the end of the tunnel. All I can say Kevin is do the right thing for these people, they deserve no less, totally come clean, you will feel better in the morning.:wink2:
 
Every single person that Varney has wronged needs to come out. You guys might be able to help each other out and Kevin might pay attention too.
 
I feel for you cincy. I can't believe KV hasn't posted on here trying to defend himself somehow. He's lost my business.
 
i dont know a single player who would put up with this type of treatment of a client. it is truly a shame to watch happen to honest people. KV OWES you a refund as well as a free cue imho sorry about the trouble, i wish you better luck next time.

just an afterthought... talk to craig aka manwon about a cue if you want something done on time and that will play lights out at an amazing price. He is really a stand up guy. just my two cents.

IIRC, Kevin Varney has stated here before that he doesn't give refunds. So the horror stories continue... and they will until potential buyers wise up.

But soon Kevin Varney will post here and just explain it all away, and make a few threats. Then he will get new orders and this saga will come full circle again. About that time the moderators will pull the Varney threads... why, no one ever knows. Sad, but true.

You all have to understand that this is simply the MO of most cuemakers. Too many of them in the industry, too many without sufficient small business skills, sufficient capital and an overwhelming number of promises they can't back up. So what to do ? Go to court ? No. Not enough payback. Threaten ? To do what ? If you want to give them the shiver, then buy a mass produced piece of junk (well, not really junk) and put a predator shaft on it.

Amen. DAN JANES (Joss) made my custom cue in 60 days. Amazing what happens when wood is on hand, and you know what the hell you're doing.

But, people buy into the "cuemakers use magical wood for their cues", and this is why KV is able to make a living while being a total flake. JMO.

you guys can't be serious! defend himself,what for? he'll start a thread in a day or two with some decent looking cues going to other forum members and then all will be forgiven.

That's why I own a Mezz Cue. But I still like custom cues and have all the time to wait for a custom cue. :thumbup:

Why doesn't everyone who has been lied to by Kevin Varney complain to Paypal and get their funds reversed?
 
I was going to wait until Mr. Varney posted to get his side of the story (and will take his side into consideration before making a decision), but it seems as though alot of customers have had problems in one way or another with him. He obviously makes a good cue that those who have them thoroughly like and support, but i dont remember ever seeing so many people on this forum disagree and complain about how a cuemaker behaves and runs his business. Like I said, i'll wait for his side of the story, but if the OP's post is accurate, there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for the delay. I have seen many guys on here order a cue from Mr. Varney after the OP and have received it and shown it off on here. Besides craftsmanship, I can think of no other personal trait more important than honesty in a cue maker. If a cue is going to take a while, just be honest with me, and if you have problems that will keep you from making that deadline, let me know. When you ignore and lie to your customers, you cant be upset with them for getting upset and posting on a public forum like this. JMO.
 
Honesty.

Well If you want a great cue from a great cuemaker and one that is honest and just a really nice guy, go to Bryan Fisher, go to Bryan Mordt, go to Leon Sly, or countless other great cuemakers on this forum and just quit ordering cues from KV. From all the posts I have read about KV it sounds like this guy is a piece of work. Now usually if one person starts a thread, I will read it but I wont judge because there is two sides. But wow you have managed to piss off a lot of people KV. Why dont you just refund the guys money at the least. And by the way, what cue maker ever requires all the money up front?

Mr. Edwards I know this is a typo made by mistake but would appreciate it if you would go in and edit the post to spell Varner correctly as Varney . I have always been a fan of Varner and when I have talked to him he has always been super nice and a class act ... He has been a great ambassador for our game of pool also and a Great World Champion, He is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet .... You call that a long post ... Brother you have not yet begun to see me type ... It don't take much for some people to get on here and bash someone and say negative things about a cue maker or thier product.... It is almost as if some look for the smallest thing to knock a cue maker or try to bring down him and his product ... thus my reason for posting here ... People never seem to say much or enough about the good work a cue maker does ... I have seen several good cue makers flamed here for little to no reason at all... Of course maybe your a older gentlemen and you may be slipping a little and set in your ways ... if so I apologize if my post upset you it certainly was not meant to piss you off or set you off... Just wanted to make clear that the people you mentioned in your post are two different people, and I was trying to do it without being nasty or insulting to you ... And I guess these posts cartainly make plain that these are two different people.

And this post is in no way intended to defend Mr Varney. As there have been so many posts and threads concerning his customer service. And customers pissed off at the long wait times and what he tells his customers when ordering a cue that I am kind of amazed anyone would order a cue from him without some serious investigation into these matters. I have also noticed that his cue line don't seem to be selling well here on the second hand market of late. I have seen some Varney cues for sale in the wanted for sale section that have been listed for a few days now without being sold. And it use to be as soon as one was put up for sale it sold within a few hours ... Then again it may just be that more people seem to be trying to unload thier Varney's in the midst of all these complaint posts about Mr. Varney. Either way I have tried to stay out of this mess and well clear of it no matter how I personally feel or see the situation ...

I noticed the Varner versus Varney as well but I know that this thread as well as the 30 plus others similar to this one are about Kevin Varney.

Well, it is time for me to come forward with my dealings with KV. He promised to deliver and never did, and I am still waiting. You see, months ago, he was offering good rep to anyone who did what he asked, a rep-ho moment. Well, I did my part, but never received my green. I have been biting my tounge, sitting quietly on the sidelines while others have come forward. I could no longer stay silent.
