My Wife & I Made This Fluke 3 Times in 2 Days!

I've seen this fluke a few times over the years, but never 3 times in two days!

I made it twice in a ring game (against her on a 9') and she made it once in practice (against me on a barbox).

You have to shoot it just bad enough (:o) that it comes out as a tight bank back to the long rail nearest you. From there, the spin takes over and spins it back down into the pocket.

lol, I don't know what's more surprising -- that you *missed* that shot three times in two days, or that you fluked it in!

1. How could you guys miss that shot 3 times in 2 days??
2. There is absolutely NO reason to shoot that shot as hard as you are doing to possibly make the fluke you describe.

I have to say, I think I would ROLL that one in....with a touch of inside, to guard against the skid.

(Therefore, if I did miss it, it would likely hang up, so who's right?)

DAMMIT!! Guy's got a wife and kid. Let him hit the effing ball as hard as he wants!!!!!!

(I have a wife and 2 kids~I often hit the balls kinda firm too.)

LOL, no doubt....

Besides, you are all missing the coolest part....he hit it hard enough, with spin, to bound the ball a few rails, while holding the cue ball at that end of the table....to quote the commercial, "brilliant"......everytime I miss, it never hits another pocket, so I am in envy...

I think you both are shooting too hard.
True, very true!

Let's just say that the stakes didn't have me playing like my life depended on it. I could maybe, just maybe hit a higher gear. :D

How did you stop the cue ball??
Looks like a 4 railer into the cross side corner to me.

There is a snooker video on Youtube where the fellow does this exact same thing and it saves what turns out to be a 147.

Anyone know which one it is? I can't remember. It was not Ronnie O.

Possible trick shot

I think I see a possible trick shot here.
Put a ball hanging in the opposite pocket on the long rail.
Hit it at warp speed which is probably just a little more than what you are already hitting the shot at.
With a little luck it will straighten out a little more and pocket it in the opposite corner/4 or possible 5 rails.
At the same time the cue ball can fly off the rail and pocket the other ball while in flight, make sure the cue comes off the rail on a line drive or you may lose a light bulb or the complete fixture
Warning: Tell wife to take cover.

That was my first thought too. How hard do you have to hit a shot in order for it to travel that much?

Guys, you are taking this too seriously...it's a quirky little thread (which is badly needed around here lately) about some funny (IMO) fluke shots made while banging balls around with folks that are a few balls beneath me. No one here has played off a few shots to keep things interesting!?!?!

Besides, if the average player on AZB is anything like the average player I see in every poolhall across this country...I don't think you play every shot like you life depended on it. You just might slam one or two here and there.

Can anyone in this forum say they HAVEN'T made this shot by accident???? Now, why the he!! did you shoot it that hard?!?!?

Fun is not allowed

I am seriously jealous....I rarely get rolls....if I miss, the bastard almost always jaws and I sell out :(

Appreciate your humor and actually like that shot....I'm gonna try it....just for fun :)

LOL. I've made that shot 4 RAILS into the originally intended pocket, more than once, including for the cash!

Well, this thread would have stayed in the grave had not been for some old footage of Mosconi playing Jimmy Moore. ESPN had a billiards marathon on this weekend and guess what...the great Mosconi lucked a similar shot in to win the Legends tourney! If Mosconi hits 'em hard enough to get lucky like that, I shouldn't feel bad for hitting 'em hard enough to get lucky like that. :)
