Jack Foreacker--3 cushion
Sammy Blumenthal--snooker
Mike Carella--one pocket
Now this post is a little more faithful to the original post....
...I think some of you guys should google 'mythical'.
Sam Blumenthal only had one loss in his room in Jacksonville, as far as I know...
..that was George Chenier, the North American snooker champion, who died
undefeated.
Sam did have one loss that I know of...he went to Pensacola and got beat by
Dick Huntsinger...who was never beaten in his room.
But he wouldn't play Sam back n J'ville.
At that time, many thought Freddy Salem of Detroit was the best 5x10
snooker play in the US of A...Freddy challenged Sam or Dick to play for
$20,000 in a neutral city, but the challenge wasn't answered.
I knew Foracker, who was thought to be the equal of Hoppe, but he stayed
on the action side.
Many of us thought Mike Carella would be the new Mosconi, but action
cost him his life.
I think Gary 'the Bushwhacker' Nolan belongs in the mythical category also,
along with 'Frisco' Jack Cooney, because their best games were in the covert
range...who knows how good they were, and how much money they won?
Don Willis and 'The White Hope' were also of legend...no tournament stats
or championships to rate them by...but they may have been better than champions.
