Ode to will prout

I'm as guilty as the next member regarding posting when I have negative feelings and standing silent on the positive so I thought I'd remedy that a little here.

I've had (what I think is) 4 transactions with Will Prout (ibuycues) in the 3 years I have been here on AZ and he is a prince of a guy. When I sold the Gus Szam box cue on eBay both my consignor and myself were quite surprised when it went for the astronomical amount it did and we were very wary of how the payment and shipping were to go and with Will it worked as easily and happily as it could be. I deal in the world of collectibles and it is very few circumstances were the alpha collector (and Will is for sure an alpha in the cue collecting world) doesn't wield his power over sellers to a large extent and they are often more than a little unpleasant to deal with. So not so with Mr Prout, every transaction I have had with him has gone exactly as any seller would dream of.

When I had my stroke I was more than a little afraid for my health and my money so I sold a rather large Gina that was my player at the time and posted on AZ that I wanted to buy a plain Tad to play with. Will just shipped me a cue out of his collection to evaluate. What a stud!

We are a community here at AZ and I think our group is much enriched by the participation of Will and I just wanted to take the time to say that.

Thanks for reading

Will is the consummate Gentleman collector and a great guy. Both of you are an asset to the AZ community. Thanks.

I've never met Will at all. But he truly does come across as a great guy and, like Tommie said, the consumate gentleman collector. Not showy. Not flashy. Not "Look at me! Look what I have!" like so many others here.

Just a guy who loves cues and people.

I hope to meet him one day and perhaps peek at some of his cues.

Rep to you for your post.

Tap tap tap

Will was very nice to speak with me a few times on the phone about a JossWest cue I had.

Great guy.

WILL IS THE MAN, AND EVERY TIME I'VE SPOKEN WITH HIM, ITS BEEN AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE. HE'S ALSO ONE OF THE EASIEST GUYS TO WORK WITH AS WELL. I WISH ALL BUYERS AND SELLERS WERE AS COOL AS WILL.

I opened this thread expecting an ode. I'm really disappointed. I'm glad your transactions went well though.

I don't know Will closely, in spite of us living so near, but I'm happy to have met him a few times & share many common friends. He is as friendly & unassuming as you could imagine. Thanks for providing us all a chance to acknowledge him. He is a deservedly well respected member in our midst.

Just think next time you see one of my auctions, if you just bid and win maybe I'll write an ode to you! Whoops, wait, I think I already did a couple of years ago.

We've got some stand-up people around here and you are certainly one of them.

Adding my agreement to everyone here (except that grouchy old Jude :p).

Will is top-notch, genuine and super-knowledgeable. A tremendous asset to the cue/pool world and this forum.

Will would only be one step above God if he adopted me.... until then, he's kinda alright in my book....

Will is one of the best people in the in the pool world. I know a few and he is way up at the top. I am proud to call him a friend.

Nice idea for a positive thread.

Put me down as one of the guys who really like Will. He is always a pleasure to do business with EVEN during negotiations. He is great to talk to on a personal level. My only regret was not making the ICCS show at his place but probably good for him cause I might still have not bought a car back..

Negotiations? What's that? Will just names a price and I lay down. Do you mean there's another method?

I sold Will the Ivory Handled Gina Cue once owned by Richie Florence. This was a very expensive cue and yet it was the easiest selling experience I have had a AZ. Will Prout is a great guy. I just wished I had another high end collector cue for him to buy!!!

Will is a truly nice man and a wonderful patron to the art of cue and case making.

As MIA said he is a man of few words on AZ but when he says something he makes those words count.

And behind the scenes he is definitely one of the cornerstones of the AZ cue dealing community.

I am also proud to be associated with and making cases for Will Prout. Thank you for the trust Will.
