pinning

Getting back to the thread, I see no reason to name something a stroking technique when we already have names and more names for each and every shot in the game. Virtually every player uses the outer edge of the tip face for many if not most shots. I hear that odd hollow sound all the time and wonder what's wrong with my shaft.

In some of the pool rooms I hung around, the typical "cling" phenomenon (skid) was sometimes described as a "push stroke" - like the player did something to accomplish it.

It doesn't matter if you currently use a "Pendulum" or "Piston" style

It's not a "stroking technique," it's a description and training for how the wrist releases. It doesn't matter if you currently use a "Pendulum" or "Piston" style, it can be used effectively for both. It's much like the release into the golf ball, it doesn't matter what kind of swing you have, it's important that the wrists release in a way that creates the most precision and accuracy.....it's the same in pool. 'the GAME is the teacher'

I wasn't even playing pool in 2005, that's how I know you are a liar for sure.

Go haunt a house, and quit trying to make yourself look like you are alive.

Who's lying now ??..You admitted to being in Kolby's, and talking to Scott in '05..I had heard you were in town...Thats why I sent out the invite's you never [sic] heard !.. What were you doing in a pool room?..You sure as hell weren't "socializing" ? (we know that) :groucho:

Like I said, you will form your response, to fit whatever BS you're peddling, at the time !..You need to keep better track of YOUR lie's, like changing the time frame back to '88 ! Pleasure talking to you again! (but it is getting boring, again :o)

SJD..."Most dodged Ghost, ever" !
:D

I sincerely hope that if you reach SJDs age, that you have some 2nd tier jackass following you around giving you shit. Trust me, you deserve it.
Chuck

This thread is exactly why AZB is dying. No wonder I don't frequent this board nearly as often anymore.

Not to worry Tim. It has been calculated that if CJ's Ego were made into a ball of string, there would be enuff to encircle the Globe.

So, more than enuff for all of us. Unfortunately.

Ha. I thought that is what I have doing so far, only in a nicer way.

It's your turn to stoke the fire Buddy.

Dick can handle it but I don't know why you would want to do that. He is usually pretty mild mannered and won't mess with you if you don't with him.

CJ will just ignore your posts and or tell you a How Great Thou Art Story, and then try to sell you a DVD.

Did you know that CJ has sold 300,000 DVDs. He be Rollin in style man.

BHR...His estimate may be off just a little ! (like 299,970 off) I think CJ. may have gone to the "Mr3cushion school of sales estimates" !..My guess would be a lot closer to '30' sales...I have faith in the pool forum's intellect, and very few people would fall for their "???????" (whatever it is !)....Once they run out of 'close' relatives, sales drop off drastically! ;)

PS..Thats why they have such frequent giveaways !
I'm rushing to get mine now !...But, there is always
some clever guy, trying to stop me ! :D

Heard the term but no explanation.
What exactly is "pinning" the ball.

Pinning is a slang term that we "Road Players" used to describe when someone was accelerating the edge of their tip precisely at impact.

This is not easy, and requires some diligence and training. It's very difficult to see this happening, however, you can hear it distinctly.

Listen to Buddy Hall, Efren Reyes, Earl Strickland, or myself and you can hear a higher pitched sound at contact......Efren's cue sometimes sounds like it's broken sometimes he does it so well.

The tip will make a difference in this sound of course, although it will still have a distinctly higher pitched sound even if your tip is soft, or medium.
