It's not about winning or losing John. I'm just stating my opinions. Like I said earlier in this thread, if someone accepts your challenge and you pick something other than 14.1 I will be the first to admit I was wrong and I'll apologize. I just don't see it happening because you are a favorite over, almost, anyone in the world playing 14.1 due to being one of the very very few people to take it seriously in this day.
its hard to bel how good he is at that game being that were he has lived not many people play it.
I'm surprised not more gamblers focus on 14.1 being the game of choice. There's literally no luck involved and the best player always wins (and is also easy to handicap). First guy to make 100 (or 150) balls wins - end of story. Unlike in 10 ball where you might run out perfectly to the 8 or 9 ball, get bad on it -- and lose. That doesn't make the other guy a better player.
If you run 100 in 14.1 and miss--- the other guy is on zero... like it should be. Just my humble opinion.
Why does John get damned for being ahead of everyone in straight pool? So since he is touted as better than everyone else, he should never get to play that game? And if he does want to play, he is a not a gambler?
All this doesn't make sense. The top 10 players on your list are all certainly great players with great pool skills. Seems to me that if they liked money, they would practice straight pool and then beat John out of $100K and his motorcycle.

for me i never took up 14.1 cause i like to gamble at pool.
the guys who play 14.1 for the most part dont gamble.
So let's see - you can play your buddy Jon Hennessey and get mentally tortured along with losing your money......or you can go to a pool tournament with advertised added money only to find out that either you won't get paid at all or the money added isn't really all added....or you can spend 4 months practicing straight pool, call up JS and tell him you will play him a set of 10 ball and a set of straight pool (hell you can probably can a spot the first time out), play for some serious cash and play a gentleman, beat him at both games, adjust beat him some more and then spend another 4 months sitting on the beach, riding up and down on the boardwalk on John's motorcycle.

hahahhahh
first i cant beat john at 10 ball.
so i think 14.1 i will be in real trouble.
you want to back me ill prac 14.1 lol hheheehhehheh
I'm sure you two could match it up somehow - then I'll take a piece. I like to bet on guys that bet their own.
And your comment about you never took up 14.1 because you like to gamble at pool - the internet detectives have posted all of your action the past 6 months so I don't think I have missed any. Seems like you are getting very few games (Hennessey I & Hennessey II) at the other pool games that you have put your efforts into.
ok i cant win with you patrick.

what you think of this.
all around me and you.
10 ball i get the last 2.
banks even.
one pocket i get 9 to 7.
i think the games are fair we could play at dcc.
let me know what you think of this offer.
i take pride in the fact that guys like sigel, varner, souquet, martin, robles, harriman etc etc who do take 14.1 seriously and some have played 30 years of it have not run in the 400s. i know thats just practice so it doesnt mean much but trust me if sigel and varner havent run over 400 and they practiced it 20 years, then i feel i play the game decent for the fact ive played it part time and hardly ever been around a loose great playing table too see how many i could do.
actually if i practice, its mostly one pocket ghost or 10ball or 14.1 i spread it around.
in the last 5 years ive spent more time on the golf course, motorcycle, traveling, fishing ,working on house, etc then practicing pool. people think i get up and play 14.1 for 8 hours a day on a loose table, trust me if that was the case and i only had 2 runs in the 400s i would be disapointed.
ill play everybody on your list 1hole.larry being the toughest.ill play everybody on your list all around again larry probably being the toughest.
im not saying i want to play them as many are my pals im just saying they all know i would play them all around if push came to shove.
