First i would like to say i have never met john in person but i would love to sometime.

I have personally ripped john on this forum for the stuff he has said and done on here. I will go as far to say i thought john was a ass and i really didnt care for him as a player.

But i cant remember but i think it might have coreys tournament when he was in the booth with the action report. Thats when i saw John in a different way. I got the chance to talk to john a little and he is very down to earth accually is funnier then hell.

I got the chance to say im sorry for slamming him and he got the chance to make a new fan which he did.
Just so everone on here knows john owes us nothing. We should sit back and be thankful we get a pro player like john, chris, sarah and there are more to answer all of our questions.

Sorry for all of you that had to read all this rambling but i did kinda have a point.
The point is if you wanna hear the storys and beable to ask the pros some questions quit bashing them so they stick around.

I checked these numbers right before I posted this. There are 20,628 members on AZB's forums. John Schmidt is ranked 90th. Apparently, lots of people like him and like having him post here!

You can run your chops good but you can't read good. He said one pocket, 14.1 or 9 ball. HE would pick the game per the opponant.

In other words, if he played Ralf, he would probably play 1P. If he played Yang, he would probably pick 14.1. If he played Efren, he may pick 9 ball.
It's pretty easy to understand really. Match the game with the opponant.

It's always amusing that every time a great pro player interacts with us here, there is ALWAYS someone who can't respond without digs, cuts, insults or other junk like you just posted. Everybody but YOU showed both these great champions much respect. Everybody but YOU.

I'm sorry Terry, but John's proposition is crap. That's like me saying I'll play any pro player the game of my choice if I can pick from 10 ball, one pocket, sudoku, basketball, or racing. It is not the same, but this is not a fair proposition for any other player. Yes John will be better than anyone else in the world at one of these games, and there are only a handful who would beat him two out of three. I just happen to think Alex is one of them (no offense to John and of course I will bet on my opinion).

Iba,
Tell the truth :)....if you could do that, wouldn't you do that? (Play any pro the game of your choice). Of course you would. John never said one of his choices would be dirt bike racing or mountain goat hunting.
()
He named pool disciplines. Others here have explained that better than I can, so I defer.

And second, picking somebody else should never be thought of by anybody as offensive. It's everybody's choice on how they see various match ups. And I know you pick 'em pretty good.

All that being said, IF they do match up, I would love to bet with you.

Lastly, you been my good buddy here for a long time. But...."soducku"???
What the heck is that??? And "BASKETBALL"! That's almost as boring as hockey! :boring2: Basketball???

I gotta go Google sudocki.....see what the heck you're up to!

Sorry, but to keep it analogous you would have to have all disciplines concerning one subject/art.

At least John kept it to all pool games. You are referencing pool games, puzzles and other sports (and racing).

Not quite the same thing.

I understand, but the point remains that it is not even close to a fair bet. It says a lot about John's talent that he would be stealing if anyone accepted, but it is not a fair proposition.

what does that mean he is ranked 90?

It means he is in the top 100 in rep. I know you know what rep is so I will not have to explain. You can find where you rank by going to the members list and sorting by rank.

i dont think i would be stealing ,i just think no matter who asked me to play,i have one ,two or three games that i could be the favorite at or at least defend myself.

anyway iba no hard feelings and you wanting to bet on alex dont offend me he is awesome.

again though im just trying to make games.

later iba take care.

I believe iba is trying to make the same point that I stated earlier, you'll pick 14.1 against anyone (accept maybe the Europeans) that accepts your challenge. Here's a list of, IN MY OPINION, the top 10 American players (you would be on this list, John, if you could challenge yourself, lol) so what game would you pick against each of them?

In no particular order:
Archer
Nevel
SVB
Deuel
O. Dominguez
Hatch
Moore
Morris
Bryant
Putnam

In the same all-around format as TAR events, I'd pick John over all of them.

Using the TAR all-around format I'd say it's 50/50. Change it to 8-ball, 10-ball and one-pocket or even banks, 10-ball and one-pocket and I think more people on my list would be favored.

i felt like i challenged myself pretty good when i played harriman in his home area all around for 14000.hes a great player all around.
also when i played kirkwood race to 100 10ball for 10000 and the score was 80-80 and i lucked out and won 88 -100.

also when i played alcano,wiley,owen,chohan,alex,sambohan,waldon,dominguez,bartrum,paez,
watson,slivca,hager,,kang,cooney,hoa,fusco,stalev,andam,chavez,nevel,
davenport, cohen, wales, wiseman, bryant, frost, duel, mcready, top player from spain cant remember name, top guy from europe cant remember name, clemmans,im forgeting at least 10 more.
i could go on and on.all these players are pros . 90 percent of them i played for big money and only booked a few losers.came back second time and won.

i played another 100 matches where i was getting or giving tiny weight and might have lost 6 times .all pro to super pro players involved.

i bring all this up not to brag but to shed light on the fact that ive challenged myself to tough action plenty and it was rewarding and exciting no doubt.
thing is at 36 years old, after doing this for a decade for living i dont wake up every morning trying to find a tough poolmatch so that i can prove to a few people or myself that i will play tough matches.

to be honest i get up every morning and check craigslist for my next motorcycle lol ive owned 9 in the last 15 months.

anyway i love pool and competing etc but if what ive done in pool isnt enough for people to think i will only play 14.1 for practice then at this point i dont think there is anything i can do to change peoples opinion of me or my game.

all those people i mentioned i played 14.1 ,1hole and rotation games even for huge money betting my own 75 percent of the time etc.
also we played whatever game they wanted not the other way around.

in closing i hope that shows my gambling life a little from my perspective and again patrick no hard feelings and ill still buy you that beer bro, take care and happy new year.

you are about 160......but that means a whole bunch.

The rep meter thingy is a big stupid ass rubbing contest. The same guys continually rep each other to stay towards the top of the list for some reason. Hey, I guess everyone needs to feel important.

I think you've missed my point all along John. I've never said you won't or haven't gambled, I'm just saying that the challenge you threw out in this thread it ridiculous, IN MY OPINION. I just listed off, IN MY OPINION, the top 10 American players today. If any of them were to accept your challenge you would choose to play 14.1 over one-pocket or 9-ball. I'm guessing there are MAYBE 5 people in the world that you wouldn't pick 14.1 against and that number might be too high. So, as I've been saying all along, if you want to play 14.1 then just say that. If you want to throw a legitimate challenge out there like Nevel and Hatch did, say that you'll play anyone 9 or 10-ball. Heck change you current challenge to 8-ball, 9 or 10-ball and one-pocket and it would show a little more gamble, IN MY OPINION.
